WP Mail SMTP Elite vs Pro: Is White Glove Setup Worth $50 More?
The short answer
WP Mail SMTP Pro and Elite cover the same one-site plugin workflow. Pro currently costs $49 for the first year, while Elite costs $99. The extra $50 is mainly buying a service layer: White Glove Setup and Priority Support.
At a glance
- Best for
- A business-critical WordPress site whose owner wants WP Mail SMTP experts to install the plugin, configure DNS/domain verification, set up a supported mailer and test delivery.
- Price model
- Pro $49 first year / $99 renewal; Elite $99 / $149
- Check first
- Elite remains one site and does not guarantee inbox placement.
Elite does not unlock a second site
Both Pro and Elite are one-site licenses. If your goal is more client sites, Elite is not the right upgrade; Developer and Agency are the site-count tiers.
White Glove Setup can replace technical labor
Elite includes vendor-performed installation, supported mailer configuration, DNS/domain verification and delivery testing. For an owner uncomfortable editing DNS records or OAuth/API settings, that can save real setup time.
DNS help reduces setup risk, not deliverability risk
White Glove assistance can reduce basic configuration mistakes, but it cannot guarantee inbox placement. Sender reputation, the external mailer, authentication and recipient filtering still matter.
Pro already includes the important monitoring layer
Email Logging, Reports, Tracking, Failure Alerts, Backup Connections and Smart Routing are already part of Pro. Elite's premium is mostly service/support.
The $50 gap continues at renewal
Current regular renewal references are $99 for Pro and $149 for Elite. If initial setup is only needed once, ask whether recurring Priority Support is worth carrying the same $50 annual premium later.
Compare other SMTP models
Easy WP SMTP sells similar paid features under another tier structure, FluentSMTP offers many routing/logging capabilities for $0, and Post SMTP has a $0 core plugin with paid support/service options.
WP Mail SMTP has a public affiliate program, but Toolnavia approval and tracking are unverified.
Buying rule
Choose Pro when you can configure DNS and a supported mailer yourself. Choose Elite when expert setup and priority support replace meaningful technical labor or reduce the risk of costly misconfiguration on a business-critical site.
