Verdict

Wondershare UniConverter 17 is a broad video toolbox, but its current pricing needs careful reading. Wondershare's general shop and standard Windows store show the Yearly Plan at $49.99 and the Perpetual Plan at $79.99, while other current official store variants show lower promotions such as $29.99 yearly and $39.99 perpetual. Treat the live checkout as the price authority. The bigger long-term distinction is licensing: Perpetual keeps the purchased major version, not every future major release, and many AI tools still consume separate AI credits.

What the yearly license buys

The current standard Yearly Plan covers one Windows computer for one year and includes the core UniConverter toolbox: conversion, compression, editing, downloading, recording, DVD-related functions, and other supported media workflows. The standard store currently attaches 600 bonus AI credits to the yearly plan.

That does not mean every AI feature is unlimited. Wondershare's current comparison marks multiple AI functions—including subtitle generation or translation, text-to-speech/voice tools, noise or vocal processing, video enhancement, and background-related tools—as paid by AI credits. Check the credit meter for the AI functions you actually use instead of treating the base license as unlimited AI processing.

$49.99 yearly or $79.99 perpetual?

Using the standard store's current baseline, Perpetual costs $30 more upfront than the first Yearly payment. Two unchanged $49.99 annual charges would total $99.98, which is $19.99 above today's $79.99 perpetual baseline. That arithmetic is only illustrative—not a guaranteed two-year break-even.

First, the subscription renews at the then-current plan rate plus applicable tax, so a future annual charge is not locked to today's first-year display. Second, a Perpetual license is lifetime access to the major version you bought, with updates for that version; future major versions are not automatically included. Wondershare's UniConverter 17 upgrade page confirms that older perpetual owners can face version- and purchase-date-specific upgrade fees.

The standard perpetual store currently includes 1,000 bonus AI credits versus 600 on the yearly baseline. Again, those are bonus credits, not proof of unlimited future AI use.

Why official Wondershare pages can show lower prices

Current official Wondershare pages are not displaying one universal price. The general shop and standard UniConverter Windows store show $49.99 yearly and $79.99 perpetual, while another current official store variant can show promotions around $29.99 yearly and $39.99 perpetual.

Because those pages can reflect campaigns, experiments, or eligibility differences, this article registers the standard $49.99 yearly baseline but does not claim that it is the only price available today. Save the exact checkout before paying, including tax, renewal wording, AI-credit allowance, and any promotion terms.

Trial, renewal, and refund boundaries

UniConverter offers a trial, but Wondershare's current plan-tier FAQ describes real limits: conversion and DVD output can be restricted to part of a video's length, downloads can be limited in quality and quantity, and recording has trial constraints. Use it to validate file compatibility and workflow—not as a full paid-license substitute.

The Yearly Plan renews automatically unless canceled. Wondershare's subscription terms say renewal occurs at the then-current plan rate plus tax and that rates can change with notice. Canceling stops future renewal while access continues through the contracted term.

Wondershare advertises a 30-day money-back policy for qualifying direct purchases, but its current refund policy is conditional. Change of mind or personal preference is generally excluded; consumed credits, points, or usage-based entitlements can be nonrefundable; third-party store purchases follow the seller's process; and an ordinary renewal is not automatically refundable merely because the buyer forgot to cancel.

Free alternatives can be enough for conversion

If the job is mainly local transcoding, HandBrake is a free open-source converter for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Shutter Encoder is also free and provides a wider collection of conversion, editing, codec, subtitle, and analysis tools without a paid license.

VideoProc Converter AI is a closer paid alternative: its current Windows page shows Premium 365 at $34.95 for the first year on three PCs with a current $39.95 renewal, and Lifetime at $54.95 for one PC. Its current page also positions Lifetime as including future major/minor updates and unlimited current/future AI tools, a materially different licensing model from UniConverter's current-version perpetual license.

These are price and licensing comparisons, not speed, quality, or codec-accuracy rankings.

Next step

Use the UniConverter trial on the exact files you need to convert, compress, edit, or download. If free tools already solve the job, keep them. If UniConverter's broader workflow saves enough time, compare the live Yearly and Perpetual checkout rather than relying on one promotional page.
