Podia Shaker vs Mover: When Does 0% Beat the 5% Fee?
The short answer
Podia Mover costs $42 per month when billed annually and charges a 5% Podia transaction fee on sales. Shaker costs $84 per month and lists no Podia transaction fee. The fixed price gap is $42 per month, so 5% of roughly $840 in monthly sales equals that gap. That makes Shaker unusually easy to evaluate: below the threshold, Mover can remain cheaper; above it, the platform fee alone can outweigh the higher subscription price.

The annual break-even is about $10,080 in sales
Mover costs $504 per year and Shaker $1,008, a $504 annual difference. Dividing $504 by 5% gives about $10,080 in yearly eligible sales. This compares only Podia's platform fee with the subscription difference. Stripe or PayPal processing fees remain separate and apply according to the payment provider.
Shaker also increases the creator-business limits
Mover includes up to 100 email subscribers, 50 products, 500 videos and 25 community spaces. Shaker increases those to 500 subscribers, 150 products, 1,000 videos and 100 spaces, and adds one assistant. A creator with several courses, downloads and memberships can therefore justify Shaker even before the fee break-even. A small catalog may not.
Affiliate marketing and upsells are Shaker features
Shaker adds the ability to run your own affiliate program, create upsells and use integrations such as PayPal and Zapier. Those are growth-workflow features, not simply bigger quotas. If the creator has no partners to recruit and no upsell strategy, these capabilities should not be counted as automatic value.
The 5% fee is not payment processing
Podia's current help documentation explicitly separates its 5% Mover transaction fee from the processor fee charged by Stripe or PayPal. Moving to Shaker removes Podia's 5% layer; it does not make card processing free. That distinction is essential when comparing the real cost of the two plans.
Podia's affiliate program pays 30% for up to 12 months
Podia's current affiliate program pays 30% on qualifying referred sales, capped at 12 months, with a 90-day cookie and $50 minimum payout. Applications are selective and Podia specifically looks for quality content rather than coupon-site promotion. Toolnavia has not been approved, so tracking remains disabled.
Choose Mover when sales are still low and its product/contact limits fit. Choose Shaker once monthly sales approach $840, or earlier if affiliate marketing, upsells, PayPal/Zapier or the larger catalog limits are already operational requirements.
