Verdict
ON1 Photo RAW 2027 currently costs $99.99 as a one-time purchase for two computers. The current offer gives you Photo RAW 2026 immediately and Photo RAW 2027, with free updates inside those purchased versions. The main boundary is future major releases: ON1 says a perpetual license does not automatically include later major-year upgrades.
What the $99.99 perpetual license owns
The base Photo RAW 2027 license is for Mac or Windows and can be installed on two computers. ON1's current offer says one payment covers versions 2026 and 2027 outright.
That does not mean Photo RAW 2028 and every later version are included forever. ON1's current FAQ says perpetual licenses receive updates to the version purchased but not future major upgrades. A future major-year release can require another upgrade purchase.
This makes the $99.99 offer a fixed-version ownership model rather than a subscription disguised as a one-time purchase.
When MAX or a subscription makes more sense
**Photo RAW MAX 2027 is $169.99 one-time.** The current MAX perpetual license supports three computers and adds Restore AI, plugin compatibility for Photoshop/Lightroom and other hosts, the 2027 AI Culling Assistant, and cloud AI rendering for selected generative tools.
**Photo RAW MAX subscription is $89.99/year.** It includes three computers, 200 GB Cloud Sync, and all future Photo RAW MAX upgrades while the subscription remains active.
**Photo Studio is $179.99/year.** It includes the larger ON1 app/plugin collection, future ON1 software and upgrades, 1 TB Cloud Sync, ON1 Plus training, and installation on up to five computers.
So the base perpetual edition is for buyers who want ownership and can upgrade later only when needed. MAX and subscriptions charge more for plugins, extra AI/restoration tools, cloud sync, more computers, or continuous future upgrades.
The 30-day guarantee starts when the download is available
ON1 currently advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee. For the present Photo RAW 2027 offer, ON1 explicitly says the 30-day period starts when the download becomes available, not when the pre-order is placed.
That detail matters because the current promotion provides version 2026 now while 2027 is part of the purchased bundle. Keep the order confirmation and the date the purchased download becomes available instead of assuming the refund clock always starts on payment day.
Two computers is the base perpetual limit
The standard Photo RAW perpetual license currently covers two computers. MAX perpetual and MAX subscription cover three, while Photo Studio covers five.
For a photographer using one desktop and one laptop, the base license may already fit. If you need Adobe-plugin workflows, a third computer, Restore AI, or continuous cloud synchronization, compare MAX before buying multiple base licenses.
Market context
Luminar Desktop Perpetual currently costs $129 one-time, but its generative-AI/Auto-upgrades entitlement is included for one year and currently renews at $33/year afterward. Adobe Lightroom currently costs $11.99/month on an annual commitment and includes 1 TB cloud storage plus Lightroom Classic. PaintShop Pro currently lists $79.99 one-time, with Ultimate at $99.99.
These are different ownership models: ON1 sells fixed major-version ownership, Luminar combines perpetual desktop ownership with renewable AI/new-feature access, Lightroom is a cloud subscription, and PaintShop Pro is a more traditional one-time desktop purchase. This is a licensing-and-price comparison, not an image-quality ranking.
Next step
Choose Photo RAW 2027 at $99.99 when two computers are enough and you are comfortable purchasing a later major-year upgrade separately. Choose MAX if plugin compatibility, Restore AI, the AI Culling Assistant, cloud AI, or a third computer matters. Choose the $89.99/year MAX subscription when future upgrades and 200 GB Cloud Sync justify recurring billing.
