Verdict
Movavi Video Editor 2026 currently costs $54.95 for a one-year personal subscription or $119.95 for a lifetime license on one computer. These are not identical licenses with different payment schedules: an active subscription includes both minor updates and major version upgrades, while lifetime keeps the purchased major version indefinitely and can require another purchase for a future major release.
Annual and lifetime have different update rights
The annual personal license covers one computer and remains active for the paid term. Movavi says subscribers receive minor updates and major upgrades while the subscription is active.
Lifetime also covers one computer, but Movavi defines it as indefinite use of the current purchased version. Its current upgrade guidance says lifetime owners may need to buy the newer major version separately.
At today's prices, lifetime costs $65 more upfront than one annual year. Two unchanged annual payments would total $109.90, still $10.05 below the current $119.95 lifetime price; three would total $164.85. That is only static arithmetic, not a true break-even, because future annual prices can change and the subscription includes major upgrades that lifetime does not automatically include.
One personal license normally means one computer
Movavi's current license rules say a Personal license is for one computer by default. Simultaneous use on additional computers requires additional licensing or a separate Shared Access entitlement where supported.
So neither annual nor lifetime should be treated as a household multi-computer license. Check the device entitlement on the exact order if you edit on both a desktop and laptop.
Movavi Effects is a separate subscription
Movavi Effects is licensed separately from Video Editor. It covers paid transitions, titles, stickers, overlays, audio and other content. Activating the editor does not permanently unlock every paid Effect or Template.
Current checkout flows can offer a seven-day Effects trial. Current public options can auto-renew at $49.95/month or $139.95/year if the separate trial is not canceled. Movavi Help also distinguishes a normal program trial from an Effects trial: the program trial does not require payment details by default and does not automatically convert, while an Effects trial can require payment details and auto-renew.
Paid Effects or Templates can also affect watermark/export entitlement if the content subscription is missing or expires, even when the editor itself is activated. Keep editor licensing and content licensing separate when troubleshooting.
Refund is conditional, not a general 14-day change-of-mind promise
Movavi purchase pages show a 14-day money-back message, but the detailed policy limits refunds to qualifying cases such as unresolved technical problems, duplicate purchases, or unresolved activation problems. Ordinary buyer's remorse and dissatisfaction with trial-visible features are generally excluded.
Canceling a subscription stops future charges and leaves access through the current paid period; it does not automatically create a refund. App-store purchases use the store's own process.
Current official surfaces also differ on trial watermark behavior: one promotional flow advertises a watermark-free seven-day trial, while Help says an unactivated trial can export with a watermark and paid content may also trigger watermarks. Verify the actual trial/export flow you install rather than assuming one universal rule.
Market context
Filmora Basic currently costs $49.99/year and its Windows perpetual plan is $79.99; Filmora Creative Assets is a separately billed add-on. PowerDirector 365 currently shows $59.99/year while PowerDirector 2027 is $139.99 perpetual. Adobe Premiere is $22.99/month on an annual commitment billed monthly. DaVinci Resolve 21 is free, while Resolve Studio 21 is $295 one-time. These are licensing-and-price comparisons, not editing-quality or render-speed rankings.
Next step
Choose annual when major-version upgrades matter and one computer is enough. Choose lifetime when you are comfortable staying on the purchased major version and prefer a one-time payment. Whichever license you choose, inspect the checkout for a separate Movavi Effects trial before paying.
