HubSpot Starter Annual vs Monthly: Is $7/Seat Worth the Commitment?
The short answer
HubSpot's current Starter promotion gives eligible new customers two ways to buy the same entry tier: $7/month per seat with annual commitment or $10/month per seat month-to-month, against a normal $20/month per-seat reference.
At a glance
- Best for
- A buyer confident they will use Starter for a full year and can accept annual commitment in exchange for the lower $7/seat promotional rate.
- Price model
- Eligible new-customer promo: $7/seat annual or $10/seat month-to-month; normal reference $20/seat
- Check first
- Promo is limited-time and new-customer-only; marketing-contact costs are separate.
One seat saves $36 over a full year
Twelve months at $7 equals $84. Twelve months at $10 equals $120. The annual promo therefore saves $36 per seat if you actually keep Starter for the full year. Three seats model to $252 versus $360, a $108 first-year difference.
Monthly buys flexibility
The $10 option costs $3 more per seat each month, but avoids annual commitment. For a short pilot, seasonal team or startup still validating HubSpot, that flexibility can be worth more than the discount.
Annual only wins when use is durable
The $7 rate is a new-customer, limited-time promotion tied to annual commitment. Do not treat it as a permanent price. The normal reference is $20/month per seat, so future renewal or plan changes should be checked in the final Order.
Seat cost is only one part of Marketing Hub
Marketing Hub Starter also includes 1,000 marketing contacts and 500 HubSpot Credits. Contact-tier growth can raise cost independently of seat cadence, and contact-tier downgrade timing has its own rules.
Read the commitment terms
HubSpot's published terms and the individual Order govern renewal and cancellation. The headline promo should never replace checking the exact commitment shown at checkout.
ActiveCampaign, GetResponse, Brevo and Kit package marketing automation, contacts/subscribers and billing differently. If flexibility is the main issue, compare those structures instead of looking only at HubSpot's promotional seat rate.
HubSpot has a public affiliate program, but Toolnavia approval and tracking are unverified.
Buying rule
Choose the $7 annual promo when full-year Starter use is already likely and the seat count is stable. Choose $10 month-to-month when project duration, team size or platform fit is still uncertain. Then separately model marketing-contact and credit usage before calling the lower seat rate the lower total cost.
