Frase Professional Annual vs Monthly: Save $312 or Stay Flexible?

The short answer

Frase Professional costs $129 month to month or $103 per month when billed once yearly. That means $1,548 across twelve monthly payments versus a $1,236 annual invoice: annual saves $312. The annual path becomes cheaper when a tenth monthly payment would otherwise occur. Monthly is still safer when workflow fit, team volume or renewal ownership is uncertain.

The decision in one minute

This is the same Professional plan under two billing cycles, not another Starter-versus-Professional comparison. The official USD page shows $129 month to month and $103 monthly-equivalent on yearly billing, advertised as 20% off. Twelve monthly payments total $1,548; yearly billing is $1,236. The exact saving is $312, about 20.2% of the monthly path.

Nine monthly payments total $1,161, still $75 below the annual invoice. Ten total $1,290, which is $54 above it. If use will stop before payment ten, monthly preserves more cash. If Professional will remain for ten to twelve paid months, annual has the lower base cost.

What stays the same

Cadence does not change Professional's allowance. The current plan includes three seats, five sites, 40 articles and 250 audit pages per month, plus a content calendar, internal-linking suggestions, AI crawler monitoring and 75 Content Guard pages. Independent October checks corroborate the same limits and prices. Other 2026 reviews confirm the annual-equivalent anchor and show how widely cadence assumptions shape advertised prices.

The $312 saving is not an upgrade. It is a commitment discount. Buyers still choosing Starter or Professional should settle capacity first; Toolnavia's existing Frase tier guide answers that different intent.

The real bill can exceed $1,236

Professional offers optional pay-as-you-go, off by default. Current rates are $5 per extra article, $0.50 per audit page and $0.25 per AI prompt. Extra seats cost $29 per month. These sit outside the annual base.

Model one normal and one peak month before prepaying. If the team routinely exceeds 40 articles, 250 audit pages or three seats, annual cadence does not remove overage exposure. Leave pay-as-you-go off until an owner and cap are defined.

Refund and renewal risk

Frase's April 2026 terms say all fees are final and no refunds are provided. They describe automatic renewal for a period equal to the expiring term unless either party gives non-renewal notice at least 30 days before term end. Monthly plans bill in advance, and Frase may change pricing when charges become due.

There is wording tension: the pricing page says yearly customers can switch back to monthly whenever they want, while also saying yearly is billed once. The safer reading is that a cycle request does not promise a refund of an already-paid year and may affect the next cycle. Confirm the effective date in the account or with support before paying $1,236.

Trial and switching strategy

The seven-day trial requires no card and exposes Professional features with capped usage. Test one brief, one optimization, one publishing integration, multiple seats and the reports your team needs. A trial helps only when it covers the exact tasks that justify Professional.

If seven days is too short, one or two monthly payments buy evidence without locking annual cash. Decide before payment ten. Do not assume monthly charges will be credited against a later annual invoice; no such credit appears on the public pages reviewed.

Checkout and ownership checklist

Verify Professional, USD market, cycle, tax, annual total, renewal date, pay-as-you-go state, extra seats and add-ons. Save the invoice and renewal terms. Assign one owner to review the subscription more than 30 days before term end. Document critical workflows before cancellation.

Decision rule

Choose monthly while Professional is being tested, use may end before payment ten, cash flexibility matters, or no one owns renewal. Choose annual when the plan is proven, ten or more paid months are likely, $1,236 can be prepaid, extras are budgeted and a 30-day reminder is set.

Annual is the lower twelve-month base. Monthly is the flexibility premium. The practical sequence is trial, monthly validation, then annual only after usage and ownership are clear.
