Verdict

Wondershare DemoCreator's current baseline pricing makes the first decision look simple: $59.99 per year or $79.99 for a perpetual license. The catch is that "perpetual" means lifetime access to the purchased V8.x major version, not future major releases. A second catch is easier to miss: the optional Visual Assets 7-day trial is a separate subscription and can auto-renew after the trial.

This is a documentation-based buying guide, not a Toolnavia recording-quality, export-speed, AI-quality, or performance test.

What the $59.99 yearly plan buys

The current Cross-Platform Yearly Plan is listed at $59.99/year and auto-renews unless canceled. It removes the free-version watermark, supports longer/high-quality recording and export, and keeps access to future DemoCreator versions while the subscription remains active.

DemoCreator's free version is not a timed demo that simply stops working. The current FAQ says the free version can continue to be used, but exported videos carry a watermark. That makes Free a useful compatibility test before paying.

One account can be used on different computers, but DemoCreator's FAQ says signing in on a second device logs the first device out. Do not read "cross-platform" as two simultaneously active desktop sessions.

What the $79.99 perpetual license really means

The current store lists a Perpetual Plan at $79.99 as a one-time purchase. The same page describes it as lifetime access to V8.x. Wondershare's current upgrade FAQ is more explicit: a perpetual license keeps the major version you purchased and subsequent updates within that version, but it does not include future major-version upgrades.

At the baseline prices, Perpetual costs $20 more than one year of the annual plan. That is not a universal break-even calculation because a future major upgrade may require another purchase, while an annual subscriber keeps getting future versions during the paid term. Choose based on upgrade expectations, not only the $20 first-year gap.

Current store pages also render lower promotional variants on some surfaces, including $29.99/year or $49.99 perpetual. Treat $59.99/$79.99 as the stable public baseline used across the current store/install pages and verify the live cart before paying.

The separate Visual Assets trial is the billing trap to check

The DemoCreator store places a Visual Assets 7-day trial next to the software purchase. The page explicitly says the assets trial is separate from the software and, on the primary current store surface, auto-renews at $15.99/month after seven days unless canceled. Another current rendering shows a different promotional asset price, so the exact checkbox/cart value must be verified live.

That subscription is not the same thing as the DemoCreator software license. DemoCreator Effects also has its own standalone plans—currently $29.99 monthly, $39.99 quarterly, or $139.99 annually—confirming that creative assets are a separate paid service.

If you do not want the assets subscription, make sure the trial is not selected or cancel it separately. Canceling the yearly DemoCreator software plan does not automatically prove the asset subscription is canceled, and vice versa.

Paid plans also include AI features, but current plan tables show different AI-credit or usage allowances across free, yearly, and perpetual options. Do not interpret "perpetual software" as unlimited lifetime use of every cloud or AI feature.

Refund and renewal boundaries

Current DemoCreator store material states a 30-day money-back guarantee, with refund requests handled through Wondershare Support. Subscription plans can be canceled, and one current store page says users receive a renewal/cancellation email before the subscription ends.

Yearly DemoCreator is recurring; Perpetual is one-time. The optional Visual Assets trial can create a separate recurring charge. Keep the receipt, confirm both subscriptions in the account, and review the actual renewal notice instead of assuming today's first-year software price is a permanent renewal guarantee.

Market context

ScreenPal currently offers a permanent Free plan, Deluxe at $4/month, and Max at $10/month. Loom Business is currently $18/user/month and focuses on unlimited recording plus team collaboration. OBS Studio remains free and open source for recording and streaming with no watermark or feature paywall. These are workflow and licensing comparisons, not quality rankings.

TechSmith's current comparison page lists Camtasia Essentials starting at $179/user/year and Camtasia Pro at $599/user/year, reflecting its current subscription-first licensing direction. DemoCreator's perpetual V8.x option is therefore unusual, but it still stops at its purchased major version.

Next step

Use DemoCreator Free on the computer you actually record with and export a sample to confirm the watermark, recording inputs, and workflow. If you need watermark-free exports plus future major versions, the $59.99/year plan is the simpler fit. If you prefer one-time ownership and are comfortable staying on V8.x, compare the $79.99 perpetual cart.

Before checkout, inspect the Visual Assets trial separately. Wondershare's public affiliate program is open and pays 30%–50% depending on quarterly sales volume, but Toolnavia approval is unverified and automatic renewals are not commission-eligible, so affiliate tracking remains disabled.
