AVG Cancellation vs Refund: Why Turning Off Renewal Is Not Enough

Cancel when the goal is to stop the next charge
AVG lets subscribers manage cancellation from the AVG Account. This prevents another renewal charge but does not automatically create a refund request.
Annual purchases generally have a 30-day refund route
AVG's current policy says direct annual purchases can be submitted for a full refund within 30 days when eligible. If the product is not a fit, the purchase date matters.
Annual renewal charges also have a 30-day route
AVG also says each subsequent annual charge can be eligible for refund within 30 days. That is especially important when a renewal was noticed only after billing.
Cancellation and refund may both be necessary
If you want the recent annual charge returned and also want to avoid the next future renewal, request the refund and disable auto-renewal. Doing only one action may not accomplish both goals.
Renewal price can be much higher than the intro price
The current referenced Ultimate offer is $59.88 first year and $149.99/year renewal. AVG says discounted first periods can differ from later billing, so read the renewal reminder rather than assuming the intro rate repeats.
Third-party purchases can be different
App stores and other resellers may apply their own cancellation and refund policies. Check the original purchase channel before using the direct-AVG process.
Avast and Norton use their own renewal/refund structures, so do not copy another security vendor's deadlines onto AVG.

Cancel auto-renewal when your goal is to stop the next AVG charge. Separately request a refund within the current 30-day window when you want an eligible annual purchase or renewal payment returned.
