Verdict

Choose Malwarebytes Plus only if you want its unlimited Privacy VPN on the same three devices as your antivirus. The current direct offer shows Standard at $35.99 for one year and Plus at $47.99, so the upgrade costs $12 during the promotion ending October 11. Both plans include paid real-time device security and Browser Guard; Plus mainly changes the VPN entitlement. The crossed-out $59.99 and $79.99 figures are displayed list prices, not a verified renewal quote. If you already pay for a VPN you trust, Standard is usually the cleaner purchase.

What the $12 upgrade buys

Standard and Plus both cover three devices and provide malware, ransomware, phishing, exploit and malicious-site defenses, plus the Browser Guard extension. Plus adds the full Privacy VPN with unrestricted data and the complete server list on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. Malwarebytes documents limited-data VPN access for Standard on several platforms, so “Standard has no VPN anywhere” is too simple. The practical decision is whether full, unmetered VPN access across your mix of devices replaces another subscription or solves frequent public-Wi-Fi use.

Current price and renewal boundary

The current one-year purchase prices are $35.99 for Standard and $47.99 for Plus, each for three devices. The promotion is marked as first-year-only and runs through October 11. Malwarebytes shows list prices of $59.99 and $79.99, but its public page does not label those numbers as the next renewal charge. Online-store subscriptions auto-renew by default; Malwarebytes says the annual reminder arrives 30 days before renewal and includes the actual charge. Save the checkout, calendar that reminder, and decide again when the real renewal amount appears.

Four practical benefits

First, one subscription covers a laptop, phone and a third device without mixing separate device-security licenses. Second, scheduled scans and real-time protection prevent the paid plan from behaving like the Free edition's mainly on-demand cleanup role. Third, Browser Guard can block scam pages, ads and trackers in supported browsers. Fourth, Plus can consolidate antivirus and VPN billing when its WireGuard-based service meets your location and app needs. Independent reviews generally find the bundle simple and inexpensive, but they also flag fewer extras than larger suites and mixed protection or false-positive results. Those are reasons to test, not proof that it will perform identically on your devices.

Limits and who should skip

Plus does not become a password manager, cloud-backup service or identity-protection package. Toolnavia did not test malware detection, VPN speed, streaming access, privacy claims or compatibility, and vendor feature claims are not independent benchmarks. App-store billing and refunds can follow Apple or Google rules. Buyers who need parental controls, cloud backup, deeper lab coverage or a more capable standalone VPN should compare broader suites or keep antivirus and VPN separate. Malwarebytes Free also remains useful for manual cleanup, but it does not replace paid real-time protection.

Next step

Install the Free edition first on a non-critical device, then use the 60-day annual-plan guarantee only after confirming your own checkout terms. Test a scheduled scan, Browser Guard, VPN reconnect behavior, mobile entitlement and any work-app conflicts. Record the $47.99 charge, turn off auto-renew immediately if you do not want a future charge, and verify that access remains active through expiration. Keep Plus only if the VPN removes another recurring bill; otherwise choose Standard and buy privacy separately when needed.
