TOOLNAVIA / BUYING GUIDE
Acronis Essentials vs Advanced: Is 50GB Cloud Worth $23/Year More?
The short answer
Acronis True Image Essentials currently starts at $49.99/year for one computer, while Advanced is $72.99/year. The $23 step is mainly about whether you need Acronis Cloud and fuller integrated security.
At a glance
- Best for
- A buyer who needs off-site Acronis Cloud backup or full real-time anti-malware instead of only local image/file backup and trial security features.
- Price model
- Essentials $49.99/year; Advanced $72.99/year
- Check first
- 50GB may be too small for full images; security can duplicate another antivirus.
Essentials is enough for a deliberate local-backup strategy
Essentials already supports full-image, disk, file and folder backup. Acronis can use local drives and NAS destinations, so a buyer who intentionally maintains local and offline copies does not need Advanced simply to create reliable backups.
Advanced adds 50GB of Acronis Cloud
Advanced includes 50GB of cloud storage and cloud-oriented recovery/replication features. That gives you an off-site copy inside the same Acronis workflow.
The catch is capacity. Fifty gigabytes may cover documents and selected folders, but a full system image can easily be larger. If your protected cloud dataset will exceed 50GB, Advanced may only be an intermediate step.
Security can justify the $23 gap
Advanced expands the integrated anti-malware layer beyond the limited/trial treatment on Essentials. If you want backup and endpoint security in one subscription, that can replace a separate security tool.
If you already pay for antivirus you trust, do not count duplicate protection as new value.
The subscription model stays annual
Acronis True Image remains subscription software. Website purchases can auto-renew, so the account should be reviewed before renewal if you do not want another term.
Compare backup models, not just cloud size
EaseUS, AOMEI and Macrium use different yearly/perpetual licensing and cloud/local approaches. Buyers who prefer local-only backup may find a licensing model without bundled cloud more attractive.
Acronis has a public affiliate program, but Toolnavia tracking for this exact offer is unverified.
Buying rule
Stay Essentials when local/NAS/external-drive backup is intentional and separate security already covers your devices. Choose Advanced when 50GB of off-site Acronis Cloud or integrated real-time anti-malware solves a real gap worth $23 more per year.
