TOOLNAVIA / BUYING GUIDE
WPX Business Data Centers: Can Five Sites Use Different Regions?
The short answer
WPX Business groups up to five suitable websites in one selected origin region. Separate origins require separate plans. Before buying for several clients, decide which sites can share a region. This guide analyzes documentation; no latency or migration test was performed.
At a glance
- Best for
- Several modest sites able to share one supported origin.
- Price model
- $1,199.60 prepaid five years before tax; future renewal amount/cycle unverified.
- Check first
- One origin per plan; separate regions need separate plans; backup location can differ.
Count required origins before counting websites
WPX lists Chicago, London and Sydney as its origin choices. Its setup guide places location selection after the main domain and before order completion. That gives a buyer a documented choice at signup, but the choice belongs to the plan rather than each website slot.
| Portfolio requirement | Buying implication | |---|---| | Up to five suitable sites sharing one origin | One Business plan may fit | | Some sites require London and others Sydney | Separate plans are required | | More slots, but still one origin | Assess a larger tier against capacity | | A location outside the three listed cities | Confirm availability before buying | | An origin chosen separately for every site | Check the provider's unit of location selection |
For example, three sites assigned to London and two assigned to Sydney form two regional groups. This is a planning example, not a claim that international visitors always require multiple subscriptions. If all five sites can use one origin, splitting them solely because their visitors live in different countries may add unnecessary cost.
Separate global delivery from origin placement
XDN is included across WPX's locations and plans. That can make a shared-origin arrangement attractive for sites serving international readers, but it does not create another selectable origin. A CDN's delivery locations and the location running the original application are separate decisions.
Cloudflare's own documentation illustrates the broader distinction: its edge processing changes cached copies without changing the original source files. That is background about Cloudflare, not a statement of WPX's cache defaults. Our separate [WPX XDN guide](/hosting/wpx-business-xdn-cache-woocommerce-boundaries) covers the application and checkout questions.
Other hosts expose different units of control. Kinsta documents location selection for each new site; Cloudways documents changing a server's region by cloning to another server, with running servers billed separately. These examples help identify the question to ask; their features and charges are not WPX entitlements.
Compare the same billing term
The current WPX cart displays **$1,199.60 prepaid for five years** for Business. Its $19.99/month label is an equivalent rate, not monthly installment billing. Use the explicit total rather than multiplying the rounded label. The displayed free months are already included.
| Illustrative purchase | Origin arrangement | Five-year amount before tax | |---|---|---:| | One Business plan | One selected region | $1,199.60 | | Two Business plans | Two separately selected regions | $2,399.20 |
The second amount is arithmetic, not a combined checkout quote. Each Business plan has its own allowance: up to five sites, 20GB storage and 200GB bandwidth. Buying two does not create one interchangeable capacity pool. Size each regional group independently; this example does not recommend a five-year commitment.
The cart offers five-year prepayment, while the general payment terms describe recurring monthly or annual charges. Those terms also allow fee changes and ordinary-price renewal after promotions. We verified the initial displayed commitment, not the amount or cycle of a future renewal. Confirm the next charge and taxes in the actual order.
Check where backups may be stored
Choosing London is not evidence that every copy of your data stays in the UK. WPX's backup terms allow storage in another state, country or continent and emergency restoration outside the selected location. If a client has a specific location requirement, confirm its scope for the live site, backups and recovery before choosing a plan.
Leave time for a later location change
WPX provides a support-ticket route for account migrations, so an initial location choice is not necessarily permanent. However, these requests go to the end of its migration queue. A further move within 365 days may require payment, and changes during a transfer can create paid repeat work.
Ask for the applicable scope, fee and schedule before relying on a move. Do not apply a general free-migration turnaround or a domain-change fee to every location change. Keep the detailed [migration and DNS checklist](/hosting/wpx-business-free-migration-cutover-dns) separate from this purchase decision.
Make the regional grouping reviewable
Before payment, write down each site's intended origin, owner and reason for that choice. Group compatible sites, then check each group's storage, traffic and dynamic workload against its plan. The [five-site resource guide](/hosting/wpx-business-five-site-resource-density) addresses capacity; this article addresses placement.
Capture the selected city, exact plan, initial total, tax treatment and next billing arrangement. Resolve any special backup-location or later-move requirement before committing.
Business can fit several modest sites that can share an origin and value included global delivery plus a documented support route. Reconsider if every client needs independently selectable placement, an unlisted origin, or automatic replication and failover across regions. None of those is established by five site slots or XDN.
