ScalaHosting Build #1 Managed Cloud VPS: $29.95 vs $54.95 Renewal

The short answer

ScalaHosting Build #1 makes sense for a site that has outgrown ordinary shared hosting but does not want to become a server-administration project. The current managed-cloud page shows $29.95/month introductory pricing and $54.95/month at renewal. First-party comparison material identifies Build #1 as 2 CPU cores, 4GB RAM and 50GB NVMe with unmetered bandwidth. The attractive part is the managed bundle; the main drawback is the renewal jump, so compare the full term rather than only the opening rate.

Renewal rises to the current $54.95/month reference; SPanel may not fit cPanel-specific workflows; backup retention must be checked for the exact order; official affiliate pages currently disagree on a 60-day versus 30-day cookie window.

What Build #1 gives you for the current price

Build #1 combines reserved VPS-style resources with ScalaHosting's managed service. The managed-cloud page lists automatic offsite backups, a dedicated IP, free website and email migration, SSL, SPanel-related management features and support alongside the server. That is a different purchase from a bare VPS: you are paying for the operating layer around the machine as well as CPU, RAM and storage.

The public price can vary by selected term, and the page presents 1-, 12- and 36-month choices. Treat $29.95/month as the current displayed introductory reference, not a promise that every checkout term has the same upfront total. Record the selected term, amount billed now and $54.95/month renewal before paying.

SPanel can reduce panel cost and migration work

SPanel is included for ScalaHosting clients without an additional SPanel license. Its official page says the support scope covers server-related work and includes migration of websites, files, databases, email and DNS settings to an SPanel server. For an agency or owner moving several conventional sites, avoiding a separate panel license and having migration help can remove two recurring chores.

The boundary is workflow fit. If your team depends on cPanel-specific plugins or a different deployment stack, do not assume SPanel is a drop-in replacement for every process. Migrate a non-critical site first, verify SSL, mail flow, scheduled jobs and application behavior, then move the important sites.

Backups are included, but retention still deserves a check

ScalaHosting lists automatic offsite backups on managed cloud plans. Its first-party comparison page describes Build #1 with one daily automatic offsite backup and an upgrade path, while other ScalaHosting material discusses longer restore-point options. That is useful protection, but an included backup is not the same as a recovery plan.

Before purchase, confirm the retention shown for your exact order and keep an independent copy of data you cannot recreate. After migration, restore a small file or database copy so you know the path works. The Terms also says customers should maintain their own backups and does not guarantee provider backups at all times.

The renewal price is the biggest budget decision

At the current displayed rates, moving from $29.95 to $54.95 increases the monthly reference by $25.00. Over twelve months at the renewal rate, that is $659.40 before optional services, taxes or future price changes. A buyer who needs managed support, migrations, SPanel and backups may still prefer that predictable bundle; a technical team comfortable administering a cheaper unmanaged VPS should compare the long-term total.

ScalaHosting's Terms currently gives new customers a full refund within 30 days on covered VPS hosting and an anytime partial refund for the unused service period afterward, subject to exclusions and account conditions. That reduces commitment risk but does not erase the need to budget for renewal.

Affiliate terms have a current cookie-window conflict

ScalaHosting's current affiliate landing page says the program uses a 60-day cookie and publishes VPS cash commissions starting at $120 per qualifying sale for the first tier, with a 45-day hold and $100 minimum payout. Its general Terms of Service still says affiliate cookies are valid for 30 days. Because both are current first-party statements, Toolnavia does not silently choose one; an approved affiliate should verify the dashboard/agreement before relying on a tracking window. Toolnavia has not been approved, so affiliate tracking remains disabled.

A practical purchase-to-scale workflow

Capture the billing term, upfront total and renewal first. Confirm the backup retention and refund wording for the exact order. Migrate one non-critical site and verify SSL, email, scheduled tasks and database behavior. Then watch CPU, RAM and disk usage in the control panel before adding resources.

Build #1 is strongest for buyers who value a managed server layer and can justify the renewal price. If your site is still comfortable on shared hosting, or your team already manages VPS infrastructure efficiently, compare the cheaper alternative before committing. Re-check the final checkout because prices, terms and included features can change.
