KnownHost Basic Shared Hosting: One Site, Five Mailboxes, Two Databases
The short answer
KnownHost Basic Shared fits one compact website needing cPanel, email and a supported migration rather than a self-managed server. Its useful tools come with tight account limits. The exact plan shows $6.71 monthly equivalent on a three-year commitment, while the homepage still promotes $3.47. This is a document-based buying guide, not a hosting test.

Count the accounts before choosing Basic
The current package allows one website, five email accounts and two MySQL databases. It also lists one CPU core, a 1GB memory limit and 10GB NVMe storage. These are separate constraints: spare disk space does not create a sixth mailbox or a third database.
Inventory the existing site, mailboxes and application databases before ordering. A separate test installation may need another database, so ask whether your intended setup fits instead of assuming unlimited staging. The memory figure is a limit, not a claim that this shared plan is a dedicated machine. Bandwidth marketing does not establish unlimited processing capacity.
Four practical reasons to keep it on the shortlist
Included cPanel brings website, mailbox and database administration into one familiar panel. That can simplify routine work for a small site; it does not expand the five-mailbox allowance. LiteSpeed and LSCache provide a caching option for suitable public pages, without requiring a separate server licence purchase. Check application compatibility and dynamic pages rather than assuming every request should be cached.
Free SSL certificates provide a basic HTTPS option without automatically buying a commercial certificate. They do not by themselves secure plugins, passwords or application code. The fourth benefit is migration assistance: supported panel-to-panel transfers can include files, email and databases at no charge. Custom environments and complex consolidation fall outside that promise. Confirm your particular transfer before cancelling the old host.
Reconcile the price before accepting three years
The product page and its public package selector both display $6.71 for Basic; the product page ties the offer to three years and lists $8.95 on renewal. The homepage still advertises shared hosting from $3.47 with a three-year footnote. That official price inconsistency is unresolved. Do not assume the lower amount will appear at checkout.
At $6.71 for 36 months, base-term arithmetic is $241.56. Another 36 months at an unchanged $8.95 would be $322.20. Neither calculation is a captured invoice. Confirm the amount due upfront, final term, tax and eligibility; a monthly equivalent does not establish a cancel-anytime monthly subscription. Budget domain renewal, optional add-ons and any paid migration separately.
Three backup slots are not seven daily versions
KnownHost's shared-hosting terms specify two recent daily backups and one weekly backup, without guaranteeing backup availability or integrity. That is not a seven-day sequence with a copy from every day. An issue noticed several days later may need an independent copy rather than a conveniently dated provider version.
The product includes JetBackup access. Inspect the actual available dates and restoration scope before relying on it. Keep an off-account recovery set: WordPress explains that a typical full restoration needs both files and a matching database. A backup archive left beside the site is not the same as a copy accessible after losing the hosting account.
Preview the copy before changing DNS
Supported cPanel, DirectAdmin and Plesk migration paths are listed as free; custom or unsupported work is $35 per hour with a one-hour minimum. Obtain a scope and price decision first. Basic remains a one-site destination even when a provider can migrate multiple sites onto other plans.
Use this suggested acceptance sequence: inventory account limits, export an independent recovery set, have the eligible content copied, then preview it before switching DNS. Check login, forms, database writes, HTTPS and inbound and outbound mail. Review caching on pages that change for each visitor. The output should be a functioning copy and a written record of what moved and what did not.
Only then change DNS and verify the live result. A domain-registration transfer is a separate action, not a prerequisite for moving website content. The provider's zero-downtime language is not a Toolnavia-tested guarantee.
First-time refund eligibility changes the decision
The thirty-day guarantee applies to first-time KnownHost customers, not additional packages bought by an existing customer; domains and SSL certificates are excluded. The terms require written nonrenewal notice at least seven days before the term ends, and cards can be charged two days before renewal. Record those dates yourself and obtain cancellation confirmation.
Choose Basic when the measured site fits and its bundled tools are useful. Skip it when you already need more sites, mailboxes or databases, or cannot accept the confirmed commitment. Staying with a satisfactory host is reasonable. KnownHost has a public cash affiliate application, but no Toolnavia approval is evidenced; tracking remains disabled.
