The real budget question is $12 now versus $168 next year
IONOS publishes the Plus promo and renewal side by side: $1/month on a one-year term, then $14/month. The arithmetic is $12 for the first 12 months and $168 for the next 12 months before taxes or separate products.
That 14x monthly jump is the main reason to save the renewal date when you buy. The first-year price is genuinely low; it is not the long-term identity of the plan. Treat the current $14 renewal as a planning reference and keep the later renewal notice as the controlling bill if pricing changes.
350GB storage is generous, but file count is still finite
Plus currently advertises 350GB NVMe SSD storage and 5x access to server resources. Large storage does not mean every workload is unconstrained. IONOS caps Web Hosting contracts at 262,144 files per contract.
That matters for sites that generate many small cache files, thumbnails, session files, backups or application artifacts. A project can hit the file-count ceiling long before it fills 350GB. Monitor both storage and file count rather than treating the NVMe number as the only capacity check.
Daily backups give a 14-day restore window for files and databases
IONOS automatically creates daily backups of Linux webspace files and keeps them for 14 days. Deleted or overwritten files can be restored from the IONOS account, but restored files are placed in a separate directory and require enough free webspace for the recovered copy.
MySQL/MariaDB databases also receive automatic daily backups with 14-day retention. The recovery process creates a downloadable database file for the selected restore point.
Fourteen days is useful for recent mistakes, but it is not long-term archiving. Keep an independent copy of business-critical files and databases when older recovery points matter.
Moving an existing site is a multi-part migration, not a one-click assumption
IONOS' current Web Hosting migration guide describes a manual process: back up webspace at the old provider, export databases, upload files to IONOS, recreate or import databases, move email and then transfer or reconnect the domain.
The guide recommends backing up the old environment first and notes that special configurations may need different handling. Keep the old host active until the copied site, databases, email and DNS are validated. Do not assume that buying Plus includes a fully managed migration team unless the order or support case explicitly says so.
The first month is the refund window; the contract still has a term
IONOS says eligible products can use the money-back guarantee within the first month. Its cancellation guidance also says contracts can be cancelled subject to the minimum contract term and agreed notice period.
For Plus, the advertised discounted term is one year. Use the first 30 days to validate workload, recovery and migration, but separately calendar the one-year renewal date. A refund window and a renewal deadline solve different problems.
Who Plus fits—and what to save before checkout
Plus is a strong first-year value when a site or small portfolio benefits from 350GB NVMe, does not risk the 262,144-file ceiling and can tolerate a manual migration workflow. The included 14-day backup history is useful for recent recovery but should not be the only archive.
Before paying, save the $1/month one-year offer, the $14/month renewal line, tax/checkout total, renewal date and domain conditions. If stable long-term pricing matters more than an extremely cheap first year, compare the full two-year cost before the $1 headline decides the purchase.
