HostGator Hatchling: 10 Sites vs Single-Site Docs, $10.99 Renewal

The current Shared Hosting page and Account Limits Summary say Hatchling supports 10 websites with 10GB SSD storage, while HostGator's current Hatchling knowledge-base page still describes it as a single-website plan. The renewal schedule is clearer: the official price chart lists the three-year regular price at $395.61, or $10.99 per month. This guide therefore treats checkout as the final product-identity record instead of silently choosing the most generous documentation.

Verify the website count before treating Hatchling as a 10-site plan
Two current official sources point to the newer product shape: the Shared Hosting page shows 10 websites and 10GB SSD for Hatchling, and the Account Limits Summary repeats those figures.
But the current Hatchling Plan KB still says the plan supports a single website. That is a decision-changing conflict. Do not buy Hatchling for a 2–10-site project unless the checkout or Customer Portal order summary explicitly shows the website allowance you expect.
The renewal price is clearer than the current introductory price
HostGator's current renewal chart lists Hatchling at $17.59 for one month, $158.27 for one year ($13.19/month), and $395.61 for three years ($10.99/month).
The current front-of-site pricing page renders the promotional amount dynamically, so this article does not freeze one current intro number that cannot be reproduced reliably from the source text. Save the live checkout price, selected term and renewal line at purchase time; promotional pricing applies only to the initial term.
Courtesy backups have a restore threshold and are not your archive
HostGator says non-specialized Shared Hosting receives daily, weekly and monthly courtesy backups when the account is under 20GB and 100,000 inodes. The same policy warns that the backups are intended for emergencies and should not be the only copy of your content.
The current Hatchling marketing limit of 10GB is below the 20GB disk threshold, but inode count can still matter. HostGator also reserves the right to decline a restore if the shared account is not under the backup limits. Keep an independent downloadable backup before major updates or migration.
“Free migration” currently means different things on different official pages
The Hatchling KB says HostGator provides free WordPress and website migration and directs customers to request a migration through the Customer Portal. However, HostGator's current migration page lists professional Site Migration at $149.99 for one website and says the limited free professional migration offer applies to qualifying 12-month VPS and Dedicated plans, not ordinary Shared Hosting.
The live Shared Hosting page also advertises a free site migration tool. Until HostGator confirms the exact Hatchling entitlement, do not budget on the assumption that a migration specialist will move a Shared Hosting site for free.
The first 30 days are the refund and acceptance window
HostGator's current refund help gives qualifying Shared Hosting purchases a 30-day money-back window when the cancellation request is completed within the first 30 days. Renewals, monthly-term services, domain registration fees, setup fees and add-ons are excluded.
A still-accessible legacy affiliate page mentions 45 days, but current buyer-facing product/refund material uses 30 days, so plan around 30 days. Use that first month to verify the website entitlement, migration scope, backups and any unwanted add-ons.
Who Hatchling fits—and what to save before checkout
Hatchling can fit a small conventional shared-hosting workload when 10GB SSD is enough and the buyer is comfortable with cPanel-style hosting, courtesy backups and a regular three-year renewal equivalent of $10.99/month.
Before paying, save five items from checkout: the number of websites, SSD allowance, current introductory total, renewal total and exact migration entitlement. If a multi-site allowance or free professional migration is essential to the purchase, require the exact order to show it.
