Verdict
GoDaddy’s current U.S. Economy card says **“Site security included,”** but that phrase is not a promise that every security feature remains included for the whole hosting term. The same page describes a WAF, CDN, daily malware scanning and monitoring, while its asset label references a “3 mo trial.” A current HostingAdvice review reports a one-month trial, and TechRadar describes malware monitoring and WAF as paid extras. Because those claims conflict, treat the cart and account renewal screen—not a review or an image filename—as the final answer.
The practical decision is simple: buy Economy for the hosting plan only if its one-site limits and renewal economics work for you. Then verify whether Website Security appears as a trial or separate renewable product. If the cart cannot show the duration and renewal amount clearly, do not count the security suite as a permanent included benefit.
What Economy clearly includes
The U.S. hosting page currently lists one website, 25 GB NVMe storage, cPanel, a free domain, free email, one year of SSL and “Site security included.” It also markets WAF, CDN, malware scanning and monitoring. These are useful layers, but they solve different problems:
- SSL encrypts traffic; it does not remove malware from server files. - A WAF filters hostile requests before they reach the site. - Malware scanning detects suspicious content; cleanup is a separate service entitlement. - A CDN improves delivery and can absorb some attacks, but it is not a recovery copy.
That distinction matters because our existing GoDaddy Economy SSL and backup guides already cover certificate renewal and restore history. This guide only addresses the buyer’s additional security-suite decision.
What the standalone security plans cost
On 25 October 2026, GoDaddy’s U.S. Website Security page displayed Standard at **$6.99/month**, Advanced at **$11.99/month**, and Premium at **$16.99/month**, each shown with a two-year term. The official feature matrix confirms WAF, scanning, monitoring and tier-specific cleanup/backup scope. Standard covered one site and one cleanup per year. Advanced raised cleanup to five times per year and added 25 GB of daily backup. Premium listed unlimited cleanup and backup storage.
These are headline monthly equivalents, not a promise about your cart total, tax, renewal price or trial conversion. GoDaddy also advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee on the security plans. Save the checkout total and renewal disclosure before paying.
The unresolved trial conflict
The official hosting page’s visible copy does not state the trial length. Its image asset name suggests three months, while HostingAdvice’s October 2026 review says one month. TechRadar’s February 2026 test confirms that malware monitoring and WAF can be paid extras but does not settle the duration.
We cannot safely resolve that discrepancy from public pages. The article therefore does **not** claim “one month” or “three months” as universal. Before checkout, confirm:
1. whether Website Security is a separate cart line; 2. the trial start and end dates; 3. the renewal amount and billing term; 4. whether auto-renew is enabled; 5. which cleanup quota applies; 6. how to cancel without removing the hosting plan.
If any field is missing, ask GoDaddy support to put the answer in writing.
GoDaddy’s security documentation says all standalone Website Security plans include malware scanning, WAF, SSL, CDN, monitoring and cleanup, but cleanup limits differ by tier. Its malware-removal workflow also requires a Website Security account and a support request; the team may need FTP or SFTP access.
That means a green padlock is not proof that a compromised site will be cleaned. For a revenue site, decide who owns incident response before launch. A plan with one annual cleanup may suit a brochure site; a store with payment or membership data may need continuous monitoring, a larger cleanup entitlement and a tested restore path.
Alternatives are not like-for-like
Cloudflare Free provides foundational network security and performance, while Pro adds more WAF control. It does not automatically provide GoDaddy file-level malware cleanup. Wordfence Free and Premium are WordPress-specific. Wordfence Premium costs $149 per site per year and adds real-time firewall rules and malware signatures, but it is self-administered. Wordfence Care costs $590 per site per year and adds hands-on monitoring and incident response.
Choose by responsibility:
- **Simple brochure site:** patch the CMS, use MFA, keep an independent backup, and consider a free network WAF. - **WordPress owner who can self-manage:** compare Wordfence Premium with the GoDaddy suite. - **Revenue site with no security operator:** price managed cleanup and response, not only scanning. - **Non-WordPress application:** avoid plugin-only comparisons; verify compatibility and cleanup access.
Checkout checklist
Use the U.S. locale and open Economy in a clean browser session. Independent plan reviews also warn that add-ons can change total ownership cost. Record the hosting term, renewal rate and every add-on line. Expand the Website Security details, capture the trial end date, and check the account’s renewal toggle immediately after purchase. Keep that evidence with your operating records.
Our GoDaddy CTA points to the approved Economy hosting offer, not a promise about the separate Website Security price. The final purchase test is whether the combined hosting, renewal and security responsibility is clear enough to budget before you enter payment details.
GoDaddy Economy can be a workable one-site host, but “Site security included” is too ambiguous to treat as a permanent security budget. The standalone U.S. security page currently starts at $6.99/month on a two-year term, and public sources disagree about the trial duration attached to hosting. Verify the exact cart, renewal and cleanup quota. If you cannot, value Economy as hosting with SSL and price security separately.
