GoDaddy Economy: $394.20 for 3 Years vs $873.60 Renewal

The most useful current pricing disclosure is not the headline monthly rate: GoDaddy's three-year Economy page says you pay $394.20 today, hosting auto-renews at $873.60 after the term, and the SSL certificate is free for only the first year before a current annual renewal of $191.40.

Pick the term from the actual total, not the smallest-looking monthly number
GoDaddy's main Web Hosting page currently shows Economy at $6.99/month for the first one-year term. A separate current three-year Economy page shows $10.95/month, requiring $394.20 upfront, with the hosting set to auto-renew after three years at $873.60.
Those are different term-specific offers, not one universal monthly price. For long-term planning, the three-year page is more useful because it exposes the actual renewal total. $873.60 divided across 36 months is about $24.27/month at that currently displayed renewal amount. Save the exact term and renewal total that appear in your cart.
SSL can cost almost as much as the hosting discount story suggests you saved
Economy includes a free SSL certificate for one year on the current plan page. The three-year quote explicitly says SSL renews annually at $191.40.
If that SSL price stayed unchanged and the certificate renewed in both year two and year three, the extra two renewals would total $382.80. Added to the $394.20 prepaid hosting, that would make the first three-year hosting-plus-SSL scenario $777 before tax or other extras. This is planning arithmetic, not a guaranteed future invoice; SSL pricing can change and you can choose whether to keep or replace the product.
Economy's resource limits are tighter than the 25GB headline implies
GoDaddy's current resource table gives Economy one accessible CPU core, 512MB RAM, 20 entry processes, 35 NProcs, 250,000 inodes and 25GB disk space. It also recommends keeping 20% of maximum disk space free for system overhead.
That makes Economy a conventional entry shared-hosting box, not just “25GB of space.” A lightweight brochure site or small blog may fit; a database-heavy store, high-concurrency application or site with many plugins can hit CPU/RAM/process limits before disk is full.
Daily backups are included, but migration is still a hands-on cPanel workflow
GoDaddy currently says automatic daily backups are included in every Web Hosting plan and can recover the hosting account from the previous day. The backup interface can also download domains, files, databases, mailboxes or forwarders.
Moving an existing cPanel site is still a multi-step process: download backups at the old host, restore the home directory/databases/email data at GoDaddy, preview the site and then make it live. Keep the old host and an independent backup until pages, databases, email and DNS are validated.
The 30-day refund has exclusions, and auto-renew must be managed separately
Economy advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee. GoDaddy's current refund policy says refund eligibility depends on the product and request timing; when a purchased product includes a free domain, the domain's list price can be deducted from the refund.
Auto-renew is a separate control. GoDaddy's general terms and account guidance let you turn off auto-renew so the service ends at the current term instead of charging the next renewal. Do not confuse “eligible for a refund during the first month” with “auto-renew is disabled.”

Economy can fit one modest cPanel site when 25GB, one core and 512MB RAM are sufficient and the owner values daily backups and GoDaddy's all-in-one domain/hosting workflow.
Before paying, save the cart's term, upfront hosting total, hosting renewal total, SSL renewal amount, domain conditions and auto-renew setting. If the project needs more memory, multiple websites or predictable bundled SSL cost across the full hosting term, compare Deluxe or another host before choosing Economy by the headline monthly rate.
