ChemiCloud Cloud 1 Root Access: Why “Fully Managed” Means No Customer Root

The short answer

ChemiCloud Cloud 1 is a **fully managed cPanel VPS**, but ChemiCloud's current guidance says its managed VPS range **does not provide customer root access**. The exact Cloud 1 plan currently shows US$32.95/month promotional pricing, US$59.95 regular reference, 2 CPU cores, 4GB RAM, 80GB NVMe and 4TB bandwidth.

Fully managed does not imply root

“Managed VPS” is not a universal access model. ChemiCloud keeps root at the provider level for its managed VPS product, which protects the managed configuration but limits server-wide customization. Other providers make different choices, so category labels are not enough.

What you can still manage

The managed cPanel environment exposes ordinary hosting-management functions such as cPanel/WHM workflows, account-level SSH, PHP, databases, backups and site security tooling. That is enough for many WordPress, PHP and business-hosting workloads without server root.

What root-only tasks become support requests

ChemiCloud's own document-root article notes that server-wide cPanel configuration changes can require root and tells users without root to contact the host. The same principle applies to unsupported system packages, low-level service changes and other root-only modifications.

Why no-root can be a benefit

Keeping root with the provider reduces the chance that a customer breaks the managed OS/control-panel baseline. If your priority is predictable managed operations rather than arbitrary system customization, this can reduce administration burden.

Why no-root can be a blocker

If the workload requires custom kernel modules, server-wide packages, Docker/container control, nonstandard daemons, custom WHM reseller architecture or unrestricted firewall/service changes, confirm feasibility before migrating. ChemiCloud itself says root-required reseller workflows need a different model.

Ask support these questions before buying

Confirm whether your required package can be installed, whether custom PHP/Node services are supported, which WHM functions you receive, how firewall/service changes are requested, what backup/restore actions support performs and what migration is included.
