TOOLNAVIA / BUYING GUIDE
Bluehost 30-Day Money-Back: What Is Refundable?
The short answer
Bluehost's 30-day money-back guarantee can reduce the risk of trying Shared Hosting, but it is not a blanket refund for every charge. The current policy covers eligible new Shared, VPS and Dedicated hosting fees while excluding domain registration, monthly-term services, setup fees, AI products and additional services. Starter currently shows $3.99/month equivalent for a 36-month first term and $9.99/month on a 36-month renewal.

Know what the 30-day guarantee covers
Bluehost's current refund policy says eligible hosting fees for new signups can qualify for the 30-day money-back guarantee. Shared, VPS and Dedicated hosting are included in the stated policy.
The guarantee does not apply to Bluehost Cloud Hosting, monthly-term services, domain registration fees, AI products/services, setup fees or additional services.
That distinction matters because a checkout can contain more than the base hosting line.
Domain fees can reduce the refund
If a plan includes a free domain and you cancel during the guarantee period, Bluehost says the standard domain registration fee is deducted from the refund and you keep ownership of the domain.
So "free domain" during signup does not mean zero domain cost if you cancel. Save the plan total and any domain/add-on line items before paying.
Payment method can matter
Bluehost's current User Agreement says the money-back guarantee is valid for credit-card payments; other payment methods can have different treatment.
If refund flexibility is important, verify the payment method against the live agreement before checkout rather than assuming all methods are equivalent.
Use the first week to test the real site
Starter currently includes 10GB NVMe storage, about 40K monthly visits as a planning figure, weekly backups, staging, free SSL/CDN and a free migration tool.
Use the first days to test the actual workload: pages, forms, login, staging, backups you control, email/DNS dependencies, plugins, cron and external callbacks.
A money-back window is most useful when acceptance happens early rather than on day 30.
Renewal is a separate long-term decision
Bluehost's current shared-hosting renewal table lists Starter at $15.99 on monthly renewal, $11.99/month on a 12-month renewal and $9.99/month on a 36-month renewal.
A buyer can be satisfied during the first month and still dislike the later renewal economics. Save the renewal path you are willing to accept before buying.
Cancel properly and keep records
Bluehost's refund policy directs customers to support for cancellation and refund requests.
Do not assume removing a payment method or stopping use of the site is the same as a completed cancellation. Keep confirmation emails, support tickets and the final billing/refund record until the account is settled.
Keep an exit copy before cancellation
Before requesting cancellation of a live site, download the files, database and other data you need. If Bluehost registered a domain for you, keep the domain/DNS plan separate from hosting cancellation.
A refund request should never be your first backup. If you migrated into Bluehost, keep the original migration backup until the Bluehost site has been stable.
The practical buying rule is simple: use the 30-day period as an acceptance window, not as a reason to skip due diligence. Starter is easier to buy confidently when the hosting line, domain/add-ons, payment method, migration fit and future renewal are understood before checkout.
