Verdict
TotalAV Plus is a reasonable low-cost first-year antivirus choice only if you treat the $19 offer as a one-year trial budget, not a permanent price. The current offer automatically renews at $99 per year. More importantly, TotalAV's own offer page currently contradicts itself: the comparison table says Plus covers four devices, while a later Plus card says three. Verify the device count in your checkout before paying.
Four concrete reasons to consider Plus
First, Plus includes real-time antivirus rather than only an on-demand scanner. That matters if you want malware, ransomware, phishing and WebShield protection running continuously on supported desktop and Android devices. TotalAV's free route can scan and remove threats, but real-time protection is a premium feature.
Second, the plan combines the core security layer with tune-up, disk-cleaner and browser-cleaner tools. Those utilities can reduce the need for a separate cleanup app, although they are convenience features rather than a guarantee of a faster computer.
Third, TotalAV publishes the introductory and renewal charges on the same offer page. That makes the true billing decision visible: $19 for the first year, then a currently disclosed $99 annual renewal. The renewal is more than five times the first-year charge, so the useful comparison is not “$19 antivirus” but “one discounted year followed by a $99 subscription.”
Fourth, the annual plan has a 30-day refund window for an eligible initial purchase or renewal. That gives you a defined period to check installation, scans and compatibility. A refund is separate from merely turning off auto-renewal, however, and an approved refund ends access.
Price, renewal and the three-versus-four-device conflict
The current ultra-deal page lists Total AV Plus at $19 for the first year and $99 per year on automatic renewal. Its top comparison table assigns four devices to Plus, six to Internet Security and eight to Total Security. Farther down, the Plus product card says three devices. The standard product page says four devices at $99 per year, which supports the regular price but does not remove the promotional-page conflict.
Because coverage is a purchase-critical limit, this article does not promise either three or four devices. Open the final checkout, confirm the count beside the exact Plus offer, and save a screenshot or receipt. If you need six devices plus a VPN, Internet Security is the relevant upgrade context; if you need eight devices plus VPN, ad blocking and a password vault, Total Security is the broader tier. Those upgrades are not part of this article's formal offer.
Platform and feature boundaries
TotalAV supports Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, but “protects iOS” does not mean iOS runs the same antivirus engine as a computer. TotalAV's help material says iOS architecture does not allow traditional antivirus scanning, so iPhone and iPad features differ. Do not buy Plus solely on the assumption that every feature works identically on every device.
Current alternatives frame the price. Bitdefender Antivirus Plus shows $29.99 for three devices and includes a VPN capped at 200 MB per day per device. ESET Essential currently shows $59.99 for three devices. Avast Premium Security displays roughly $69.99 for up to ten devices, with renewal pricing varying by storefront. Norton 360 Deluxe currently shows $64.99 for five devices and adds VPN and cloud-backup features. These are billing and scope comparisons, not performance rankings.
Cancel renewal, request a refund, or keep using it
Turning off auto-renewal in the TotalAV portal prevents the next charge but normally leaves service active until the paid term ends. Requesting a refund is different: annual and biannual subscriptions are generally eligible within 30 days of the initial purchase or renewal, while monthly, quarterly and add-on services use a 14-day window. App-store purchases follow the store's process, and an approved TotalAV refund requires full termination, ending access.
The safest next step is to verify the checkout device count, save the $19 first-year and $99 renewal disclosure, then test the exact computers and phones you plan to protect during the refund window. Set a renewal reminder well before the first year ends. TotalAV has a public cash affiliate program, but Toolnavia approval is not verified, so this page uses no tracking link.
