OptinMonster Plus + Pageview Block vs Pro: When Is the $29 Add-On Smarter?
The short answer
OptinMonster Plus versus Pro is not always a simple plan-upgrade question. Plus is currently $324 for the first year and $570 at renewal with 10,000 campaign impressions, while Pro is $444 first year and $870 at renewal with 25,000 impressions. If the only problem is a temporary traffic spike, any paid account can add 100,000 pageviews for $29 per month without changing plans.
At a glance
- Best for
- A Plus user whose main problem is occasional campaign-usage spikes and who does not need Pro-only Exit-Intent, Revenue Attribution or advanced targeting.
- Price model
- Plus $324 first year / $570 renewal; Pro $444 / $870; block $29/month per 100k
- Check first
- Pageviews and campaign impressions are not treated as identical units; blocks renew until removed.
A pageview block is capacity, not a Pro substitute
The block solves usage pressure. It does not unlock Pro-only features. Exit-Intent is documented for Pro and higher, and Revenue Attribution is also a Pro-and-higher capability. If either feature is recurring, the $29 block cannot replace Pro.
Occasional spikes are where the add-on is strongest
A holiday campaign, product launch or short promotion may push Plus above its normal usage. One $29 block adds 100,000 pageviews and stays active until removed. If the rest of the year fits Plus, one or two blocks can preserve the lower plan. A temporary block that is not removed becomes recurring spend.
Persistent use changes the arithmetic
One block every month costs $348 per year. At today's references, Plus plus one block for all 12 months would model to $672 in the first year ($324+$348) and $918 at renewal ($570+$348). Pro is $444 first year and $870 at renewal.
This does not mean Pro is always a capacity substitute. The block adds 100,000 pageviews while Pro lists 25,000 campaign impressions, and OptinMonster uses both terms across current pages. The safe conclusion is narrower: if you buy the add-on every month, stop treating it as a temporary fix and re-evaluate the whole plan.
Check overage preferences before a launch
Paid accounts can choose automatic plan upgrade, pageview blocks, or temporary campaign suspension until the monthly reset. Check that setting before a launch so an overage action does not surprise the budget.
Compare other usage-pricing models
WisePops uses traffic/service-level pricing, ConvertFlow uses usage-scaled funnel plans, and Poptin publishes tiered popup/lead-capture plans. They are not identical products, but they show why the usage model matters when traffic fluctuates.

Buying rule
Stay on Plus and use a block when overage is occasional and Plus already has every feature you need. Move to Pro when Pro-only tools are recurring requirements, or when persistent add-on spending has become part of normal monthly cost. Verify live plan terms and usage settings before paying.
