Verdict

NordPass Free is more capable than its short pricing table can make it look. You can install it on multiple devices and keep vault data synchronized, but the Free plan allows only one active session at a time. Premium removes that session restriction and adds security and sharing tools. NordPass currently says Premium starts at €1.23/month, while its default checkout opens a 2-year plan plus 3 extra months; the readable checkout does not expose a reliable final numeric total, so verify the live order rather than multiplying a headline yourself.

Free can sync across devices—but only one session stays active

NordPass Help states that both Free and paid users can install the app and browser extension on as many devices as they want, and vault data synchronizes between devices. The important Free limitation is that only one device can have an active NordPass session at a time. Premium allows unlimited simultaneous active sessions.

This resolves confusing wording on the public pricing table, which marks “Access on multiple devices” as unavailable for Free while its own FAQ says Free includes automatic sync across devices. The useful distinction is not installation versus no installation; it is one active session versus simultaneous access without repeatedly logging back in.

What Premium adds beyond simultaneous sessions

**Password Health and Data Breach Scanner.** Premium adds tools that flag weak/reused passwords and look for account data in known breaches. They are monitoring aids, not a guarantee that every future compromise will be detected.

**Secure sharing.** Premium users can share saved items and manage access levels. Free users can receive shared information, but the current Help article says Premium is required to initiate and manage sharing.

**File attachments and Emergency Access.** Premium adds encrypted file attachments and a recovery-style Emergency Access workflow for trusted contacts. Test these with noncritical sample data before relying on them for an emergency.

**Unlimited simultaneous logins.** This is the clearest everyday upgrade over Free for someone who constantly switches between desktop, web, and mobile. If you normally use only one device session at a time, the Free limitation may be easy to live with.

The public price is a starting price, not a verified checkout total

NordPass's current product page says Premium starts at €1.23/month. The pricing page defaults to a 2-year Personal plan, and its current Purchase Now link opens a checkout labeled “2-year plan + 3 EXTRA months” with “Save 53%.” However, the static checkout text available for verification does not display the actual numeric total or the exact future renewal amount.

For that reason, this guide does not calculate €1.23 × 27 or present a guessed total. Taxes/VAT, currency, promotion eligibility, and renewal can change. Record the actual order summary before paying.

NordPass also warns that a renewal price may differ from the initial purchase price. If you later change plans, the new plan renews on the next renewal date under its applicable pricing.

The 30-day guarantee applies to the initial purchase, not normal renewals

NordPass's current personal money-back policy gives a 30-day guarantee following the initial subscription purchase. Once a subscription has renewed, that renewal is not covered by the same guarantee unless applicable local law requires otherwise.

Turning off auto-renewal also does not automatically create a refund. NordPass instructs customers to cancel recurring billing in Nord Account and contact Support separately if they want an eligible refund. App Store or Play Store purchases can have their own billing routes.

That distinction matters when comparing a long promotional term: “I canceled renewal” and “I requested my initial-purchase refund” are different actions.

How the alternatives frame the value

1Password Individual currently shows $2.99/month paid annually for the promotional first year, with a regular $3.99/month annual rate and a 14-day trial. Bitwarden's current 2026 pricing lists Premium at $1.65/month, billed $19.80 annually, while its Free plan already supports unlimited core password storage and all-device access.

Proton's official Pass Plus pricing announcement lists $2.99/month on a 12-month plan, billed $35.88, while Proton Free already supports unlimited logins and devices; its live pricing page should still be checked before purchase because dynamic amounts can change. RoboForm Premium currently shows $2.49/month billed annually and a $29.88/year renewal. These are pricing-and-scope references, not security-quality rankings.

Next step

Start with NordPass Free and use it on the devices you actually switch between. If being signed out when moving between active sessions becomes recurring friction—or if you need Password Health, breach monitoring, secure sharing, attachments, or Emergency Access—then Premium has a concrete reason to exist.

Before buying, confirm the live 2-year checkout total and future renewal instead of relying only on the €1.23/month starting claim. NordPass's public affiliate program currently pays 30% on new B2C subscriptions and 10% on B2C renewals, with a 30-day cookie. Toolnavia approval is unverified, so affiliate tracking remains disabled.
