Moosend Pro 500: When Does Annual Billing Beat $9 Monthly?

The short answer

Moosend Pro 500 can make sense on annual billing once your newsletter is established. While you are still testing demand, $9 monthly keeps the initial commitment smaller. This official-document analysis explains why the advertised annual equivalent of about $7 needs an invoice check before you commit.

Keep the plan constant before comparing prices

The choice here is Pro for up to 500 active subscribers, not a feature upgrade. Pro combines unlimited campaigns, automation, landing pages and subscription forms. Monthly or annual billing changes payment timing; it does not make the subscriber ceiling disappear.

Unlimited campaigns help a small newsletter send frequent issues without budgeting a separate campaign allowance. Automation supports repeatable welcome sequences instead of manual follow-ups. Forms and landing pages provide an acquisition path alongside the emails. The 30-day no-card trial lets you evaluate that workflow before buying. Each benefit depends on suitable setup; none establishes deliverability or sales performance.

Use the annual quote, not only the $7 label

Moosend's own comparison shows $9 monthly and about $7 per month with annual billing. Its pricing page labels annual billing as a 20% saving, paid once a year. Those presentations do not produce identical exact arithmetic: $9 × 80% is $7.20, while $7 is a whole-dollar display. The final annual invoice was not independently confirmed.

Let A be your annual subtotal before tax. Compare A with $9 × the number of paid months you expect. If checkout says $84, twelve monthly payments cost $108 and the difference is $24. If checkout instead applies an exact 20% discount to $108, A is $86.40 and the difference is $21.60. These are conditional calculations, not two verified offers.

Under either illustration, nine monthly payments cost $81 and ten cost $90. Annual becomes cheaper at payment ten, assuming the tier and rates remain unchanged. For any other quote, recalculate A ÷ $9. Tax, add-ons and list growth belong outside this simplified base-price model.

A cheaper month can mean a more expensive exit

Annual payment commits cash now. Moosend's terms generally make paid subscription fees non-refundable and quantities fixed during the purchased term. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.

For a six-month project, $54 of monthly payments is less than either illustrated annual subtotal. That is why a lower monthly equivalent need not produce a lower total project cost. Cancellation prevents a future term; it is not a plan to recover unused prepaid months.

Moosend also offers six-month billing with a 15% savings label. Confirm its actual six-month subtotal before treating it as a compromise; do not derive a guaranteed invoice from a rounded display.

Check the subscriber count before prepaying

In Billing, inspect the unique active-subscriber count and allow recent imports or unsubscribes time to appear. Estimate likely growth, including an upcoming promotion, before choosing the 500 tier. Annual payment does not freeze capacity.

The documented monthly upgrade flow provides a higher limit immediately with a prorated charge on the next bill. Downgrades wait until the next cycle without proration. These instructions do not establish identical annual upgrade arithmetic, so obtain the account's quote if growth is likely.

A practical buying sequence

Our suggested workflow is to build one welcome sequence and one newsletter during the trial, confirm the forms collect the intended contacts, and check the count after synchronization. Then record the tier, currency, subtotal due today, tax, renewal date and cancellation procedure.

Choose monthly while audience size or product fit is uncertain. Choose annual once the actual quote beats your realistic usage horizon and prepayment is comfortable. For irregular campaigns, the existing [Moosend subscription and credits guide](/en/software/moosend-pro) addresses whether you need a subscription at all.
