Verdict
Moosend Pro is a cleaner fit than send-capped email plans when your list is small but you send often. The current 500-subscriber Pro reference is $9/month, while Moosend's current annual comparison shows about $7/month equivalent when billed annually. Pro subscriptions include unlimited campaign sends, so the main billing variable is active subscriber count rather than a monthly email-send ceiling.
Moosend also sells pay-as-you-go email credits. For occasional or seasonal campaigns, credits can be more sensible than keeping a recurring subscriber plan active all year.
Pro 500 is priced by active subscribers, not campaign volume
Moosend subscription plans are sized by active subscribers. The current entry Pro reference is 500 subscribers at $9/month. A subscriber email appearing on multiple lists is counted once as one unique active subscriber, which helps avoid duplicate billing simply because the same person belongs to several segments or lists.
Unlike MailerLite Comfort or AWeber Lite, Pro does not impose a normal monthly campaign-send cap on the subscription tier. That makes Pro especially relevant for a small list that receives frequent newsletters, broadcasts, or automations. Unlimited sends still do not mean unlimited contacts: moving into a higher subscriber band changes the plan cost.
Subscription or pay-as-you-go credits?
Moosend's alternative is pay-as-you-go credits. One credit sends one email to one recipient, and current Help says credits do not expire unless otherwise indicated. That creates a useful choice between two billing models.
Choose a Pro subscription when you maintain an active list and send regularly. Choose credits when campaigns are irregular, seasonal, or separated by long inactive periods. Credits remove the recurring subscriber-plan commitment, but each recipient send consumes a credit.
Moosend also explains that an account can hold credits alongside a subscription. In some over-limit situations, available credits can be consumed rather than treating them as a second unlimited-send entitlement. Check the account balance and plan rules instead of assuming credits bypass every subscription limit.
Start with the 30-day trial
Moosend currently offers a 30-day free trial without requiring a credit card. The current product documentation does not describe a permanent Free plan, so the trial is the safest way to test list import, campaign creation, automations, forms, landing pages, and reporting before paying.
Use representative noncritical contacts and one realistic campaign workflow. The purpose is to validate the editor, automation logic, subscriber counting, and integrations—not to infer deliverability or conversion performance from a small test.
Upgrade, downgrade, and refund rules matter
Current subscription Help says upgrades can take effect immediately. A prorated upgrade amount can be added to the next bill. Downgrades work differently: they take effect at the next billing cycle, with no prorated adjustment for unused capacity in the current term.
Cancellation also takes effect at the end of the current paid term. Moosend's current Terms say payment obligations are non-cancelable, fees already paid are non-refundable, and purchased quantities cannot be reduced during the relevant subscription term. Taxes can apply and future pricing can change.
That makes monthly billing useful while list size is uncertain. Annual billing can lower the effective rate once subscriber count and usage are stable, but it should not be treated as a refundable trial.
How the current alternatives compare
MailerLite Comfort starts at $12/month; its 500-subscriber tier has 5,000 monthly sends and can auto-upgrade when subscriber or send limits are reached. AWeber Lite 500 is $15/month or $150/year with 5,000 sends and also auto-upgrades on subscriber or send thresholds.
systeme.io Startup is $17/month or $170/year and includes unlimited email sends within its broader funnel/course platform. Brevo Starter starts at $9/month and removes the Free plan's 300-emails-per-day limit. GetResponse Starter is currently $19/month for 1,000 contacts. These are pricing-and-scope references, not deliverability rankings.
Next step
Use the 30-day trial first. If you maintain a live list near 500 subscribers and send frequently, Pro's $9/month starting point and unlimited campaigns are easy to understand. If you send only occasional bursts, compare pay-as-you-go credits before starting a recurring subscription. If your list grows, recheck the exact subscriber-tier price before upgrading.
