GetResponse Marketer Annual vs Monthly: Why Month 10 Matters
The short answer
GetResponse Marketer for 1,000 contacts currently models to **US$580.56 paid upfront for the annual plan** or **US$59 month by month**. Twelve monthly payments total **US$708**, so a full year costs **US$127.44 more** on monthly billing. Annual first becomes cheaper when the tenth monthly invoice arrives—not on day one.

Quick verdict
Choose **monthly billing** if product fit, deliverability, automation design or list hygiene is still unproven. Nine monthly payments total **US$531**, which is US$49.56 less cash than committing US$580.56 upfront. You can cancel before the next 30-day renewal, although the amount already charged is not refunded.
Choose **annual billing** if Marketer is already validated, you expect at least ten paid months, your 1,000-contact list will stay controlled, and you can absorb the non-refundable upfront invoice. At month 10, monthly payments reach US$590, US$9.44 above the annual base. At 12 months, annual saves US$127.44 before tax, extensions or account-specific discounts.
Do not choose annual merely because the page says “save up to US$127 a year.” The exact displayed arithmetic is US$48.38 × 12 = US$580.56 versus US$59 × 12 = US$708, a US$127.44 difference. The marketing sentence is rounded; live checkout controls.
Same Marketer plan, two cash-flow shapes
The annual card displays **US$48.38 per month equivalent, paid annually**. That is not a cancellable US$48.38 monthly invoice. The full base amount is **US$580.56 upfront** for the billing period. GetResponse says payments are recurring and collected in advance.
Current independent pricing checks consistently show **US$59 per month** for Marketer at 1,000 contacts. The official pricing page confirms monthly and 12-month billing and an 18% annual discount, while the trial page shows the annual equivalent.
The decision is therefore about cash timing and commitment, not features: both paths buy the same Marketer tier at the same contact limit, subject to the same list-growth rules.
Break-even arrives with payment 10
The reproducible cash comparison is:
- Month 1: monthly US$59 versus annual US$580.56 upfront. - Month 9: monthly US$531, still US$49.56 below annual. - Month 10: monthly US$590, now US$9.44 above annual. - Month 12: monthly US$708, US$127.44 above annual.
The mathematical crossover is **US$580.56 ÷ US$59 = 9.84 months**. Because monthly invoices are whole payments, annual first has the lower base cash total at payment 10.
This is not a recommendation to wait exactly nine months and switch automatically. Annual-to-monthly or monthly-to-annual changes can affect the billing cycle, unused-time credit and discount eligibility. Confirm the itemized quote before changing cadence.
Cancellation is not a refund
GetResponse's refund policy is direct: it does not refund amounts already charged, even if cancellation follows immediately after a new monthly or annual billing period begins. Cancellation prevents later charges; it does not unwind the current invoice.
A canceled account stays active until the end of the paid period. Cancellation is browser-only, and the account must be fully paid with the contact list inside the purchased limit.
This makes annual billing a real commitment. If you are uncertain whether your automation, abandoned-cart flow or segmentation will survive implementation, use the 14-day no-card trial and then a short monthly proof period. Do not treat annual cancellation as a prorated exit.
Switching cadence needs support and can reset billing
GetResponse says an upgrade applies immediately, credits unused time from the previous subscription and starts a new billing cycle. Downgrades—including moving from annual or legacy biennial billing to monthly—require the Support team.
That matters operationally. Do not assume a visible monthly toggle will convert an active annual invoice or return unused cash. Contact Support before renewal, request the effective date and exact credit treatment in writing, and save the response with the new checkout quote.
A one-time retention option may appear during cancellation, but it is not the base price and should not drive the initial purchase. Budget from the standard public invoice.
The 1,000-contact limit can erase the cadence savings
GetResponse bills by contact band. It looks at peak active subscribers and also the total contacts added during the month. Deleting and replacing contacts does not necessarily keep billing at 1,000; duplicated email addresses across separate lists can count more than once.
If usage exceeds the purchased band, a list-extension fee can be charged **every month even on an annual plan**. The fee is based on the difference to the tier that accommodates actual usage and can apply for the whole billing cycle.
The annual US$127.44 base saving is therefore fragile if list operations are sloppy. Before prepaying, clean duplicates, estimate imports and integrations, and model the likely 2,500- or 5,000-contact tier. Billing cadence does not protect against growth charges.
What Marketer includes—and what this article does not compare
Marketer is positioned for advanced automation and ecommerce workflows, including advanced segmentation, abandoned-cart recovery, promo codes and multi-user access within the published scope. The existing Toolnavia Starter-versus-Marketer article answers whether those features justify upgrading tiers.
This page holds **Marketer and 1,000 contacts constant**. It answers only whether the same subscription should be paid monthly or annually. It does not reuse the tier-upgrade decision, and it does not claim that five user accounts, webinars or add-ons are identical in every region or legacy account.
Checkout checklist
Before annual billing, verify: Marketer, 1,000 contacts, USD market, US$48.38 monthly equivalent, US$580.56 total due now, tax, renewal date, extension-fee schedule, included users, any trial or checklist discount, and written no-refund terms.
Before monthly billing, verify: Marketer, 1,000 contacts, US$59 due every 30 days, tax, renewal date, extension fees, cancellation cutoff and whether a later annual switch restarts the cycle or applies unused-time credit.
Export critical campaigns and contact data before cancellation. Set reminders ahead of annual renewal and ahead of expected contact growth.
**Bottom line:** monthly is the safer validation path for one to nine paid months. Annual is the lower base-cost path from payment 10 onward and saves US$127.44 over 12 months, but the entire invoice is non-refundable and contact overages remain monthly.
