Constant Contact Standard Annual vs Monthly: Is $357 Upfront Worth It?
The short answer
Constant Contact Standard currently starts at **US$35/month**. Paying twelve months one at a time costs **US$420**; the official 15% twelve-month prepay discount implies **US$357 upfront**, a maximum starting-tier saving of **US$63**.

Quick verdict
Choose **monthly billing** if you may migrate, clean the list, change tools or stop within ten months. Choose **annual prepay** only when Standard is likely to remain useful into month eleven and tying up an extra **US$322 on day one** will not constrain the business.
The two cadences use the same Standard feature set. This is a commitment decision, not a feature upgrade.
The first invoice
Monthly begins with US$35. Annual prepay begins with US$357. The annual buyer therefore advances US$322 more cash on day one to reserve a US$63 maximum saving over a full unchanged year.
That trade is easy to miss when a pricing card displays US$29.75 “per month.” The number is the monthly equivalent of a twelve-month prepayment: US$29.75 × 12 = US$357. It is not a US$29.75 cancellable monthly invoice.
When annual becomes cheaper
After nine monthly payments, monthly cash paid is US$315—US$42 below the annual invoice. After ten payments it is US$350, still US$7 lower. The eleventh monthly charge raises cumulative cost to US$385, so annual becomes US$28 cheaper. After twelve months, annual finishes US$63 ahead.
This creates a simple decision rule:
- Leave during months 1–10: monthly has used less cash. - Stay into month 11: annual has lower cumulative base cost. - Stay for all 12 months: annual captures the full US$63 discount.
The crossover assumes the starting contact tier and current prices do not change.
Cancellation is not the same as a refund
Constant Contact says subscriptions may be cancelled at any time. Its prepayment guidance separately says unused prepayments are not refunded after cancellation, except through the 30-day money-back guarantee.
Therefore “cancel anytime” should be read as stopping future service or renewal, not as a promise to return every unused annual month. After 30 days, treat the unused prepaid balance as committed cash.
Monthly limits that exposure, but cancellation timing still matters.
Contact growth can move both totals
The highest contact count reached during the month controls the tier, even if the list later shrinks. Growth can raise the next invoice and make a prepaid balance expire sooner, so US$357 is not a permanent list-size lock.
For detailed tier mechanics, see the existing [Constant Contact Standard contact-tier guide](/software/constant-contact-standard). This article does not repeat that page's deletion and highest-count analysis.
Send allowance still matters
Standard's monthly send allowance is tied to contact count. Current official help material states that sends above the allowance cost **US$0.002 each**; independent current guides record Standard at 12× the contact count.
At 500 contacts, 12× means 6,000 sends; 10,000 extra sends would add US$20 at that rate. Verify the live allowance—annual prepay does not make overages free.
Independent guides corroborate the US$35 start, 15% discount and usage-sensitive total; official billing pages remain authoritative.
The renewal-price conflict
The current official payment page offers 15% off a twelve-month prepayment. A current TechRadar table labels Standard US$29.75/month as “paid annually” and US$35/month as an annual renewal rate. The official pages reviewed here do not promise that a future annual renewal will remain US$357, nor do they state that every renewal must jump to US$420.
This article therefore uses **US$357 only for today's modeled prepayment** and makes no future-renewal guarantee. Before committing, capture the checkout's total annual charge and renewal language.
**Who should choose each cadence?**
Monthly suits uncertain migration or product fit. Annual suits a stable list and at least eleven months of expected use. Neither cadence protects against list growth, overages or future price changes.
Checkout checklist
Before selecting monthly, verify the current US$35 starting charge, billing date, contact tier and cancellation effective date.
Before prepaying, verify the **full US$357 invoice**, 15% discount, 30-day guarantee eligibility, no-refund wording, renewal description, contact-tier treatment, SMS/add-ons and tax. Save a screenshot or receipt because the public monthly equivalent is not the whole contract.
The Constant Contact exact offer is not approved or enabled for Toolnavia, so this article shows no commercial purchase button or tracking link.
**Bottom line:** monthly buys ten months of lower cumulative cash exposure. Annual becomes cheaper with the eleventh monthly payment and reaches a US$63 base saving after twelve unchanged months.
