TOOLNAVIA / BUYING GUIDE

ScalaHosting Build #1 Data Center Choice: Native, Integrated Cloud or AWS?

The short answer

ScalaHosting’s Build #1 is easy to price but harder to place. The current managed-cloud reference is $29.95 per month initially and $54.95 at renewal for 2 CPU cores, 4GB RAM and 50GB NVMe. Location changes the purchase because ScalaHosting’s network page mixes three infrastructure types: its native facilities, Integrated Cloud partners and a separate managed AWS route. They are not interchangeable promises. Before paying, match the live Build #1 checkout to your audience, data requirements and renewal budget.

Check first
Not every city is guaranteed on Build #1; Managed AWS is separate; location alone does not prove compliance or page speed.

Start with the four native locations

ScalaHosting currently labels Dallas, New York, Seattle and Sofia as “ScalaHosting Native Infrastructure.” For a mostly US audience, Dallas is the central default, New York is usually the shorter path for the US Northeast and much of Europe, and Seattle is the natural first test for the Pacific Northwest and some Asia-Pacific traffic. Sofia is the native European option. The official network page says location affects connectivity and how well you serve the target audience.

That does not mean a map can predict application speed. An independent September 2026 test measured round-trip latency from ten countries to Dallas, New York and Seattle and found different winners by probe. The same report warns that packet latency is not a page-load benchmark. Treat those numbers as a reason to test from your own user markets, not as a universal ranking.

Integrated Cloud is broader, but verify the exact Build #1 checkout

The network page also lists Integrated Cloud cities such as Amsterdam, Helsinki, Madrid, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Stavanger, Warsaw, London, Frankfurt, Singapore and Sydney. These locations extend geographic choice, but they are partner infrastructure rather than the four native facilities. A current independent review says the managed VPS order form exposes the four native sites plus eleven partner locations; availability can still vary by plan and order flow.

This distinction matters when comparing price. The $29.95 Build #1 headline should not be read as a guarantee that every city carries identical resources, term choices or total cost. Select the location in the live configurator, record the first-term total, renewal price and infrastructure label, and only then compare it with another region.

Managed AWS is a separate buying path

ScalaHosting’s Managed AWS page lists 13 AWS locations across four continents, including Ohio, Virginia, Oregon, Montreal, Dublin, Paris, London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Seoul, Mumbai, Singapore and Sydney. Its entry configuration also differs: the AWS page describes 2 CPU cores, 4GB RAM and 80GB NVMe, not the 50GB Build #1 reference.

That makes AWS useful when a required geography is unavailable in the normal managed-cloud configurator, but it is not a free region switch inside the same offer. Compare the live AWS total, storage, term and management scope against Build #1. If your requirement is contractual data residency, ask ScalaHosting to confirm the exact facility, processor/subprocessor and applicable agreement in writing. A region label by itself is not a compliance certificate.

Choose for the traffic that reaches the origin

For a local business, membership site, WooCommerce store or logged-in application, place the origin near the largest concentration of real users. Dynamic requests, database work, admin actions and uncached checkout steps still travel to the origin. A CDN can shorten delivery for cacheable images, CSS and JavaScript, but it does not erase every round trip to PHP, the database or the control panel. ScalaHosting’s managed-cloud page advertises a redundant network and CDN integration; those features complement a sensible origin choice rather than replacing it.

For a globally split audience, test two finalists. Use the same page, cache state and time window from representative cities. Record time to first byte as well as full-load time, then weight the results by actual revenue or user share. Do not choose a distant city solely because one third-party review reported a fast synthetic result. Several current reviews disagree on facility counts or product scope, reinforcing the need to let the live official taxonomy and checkout win.

Verify location before migration and DNS cutover

A TechRadar reviewer reported that support corrected a mistakenly selected data center almost immediately. That is useful evidence that help can be responsive, but it is one test, not a promise of a free instant move for every live VPS. Moving an established server can involve a new instance, data copy, DNS change, email coordination and a short period of parallel operation.

Before checkout, capture the selected city and infrastructure type. Before migration, ask whether a later region change is an in-place operation or a reprovisioning project, whether the IP address changes, and whether backups can be restored across locations. Keep an independent backup, lower DNS TTL before cutover and test a non-critical site first.

The purchase decision

Choose a native Build #1 location when one of Dallas, New York, Seattle or Sofia is close enough to the primary audience and the managed-cloud total is attractive. Consider Integrated Cloud only after the live Build #1 checkout confirms the city, resources and renewal. Compare Managed AWS separately when its specific geography or AWS infrastructure is worth the different configuration and price.

Build #1 is a poor fit when you need a guaranteed jurisdiction that ScalaHosting will not confirm, active-active multi-region architecture, or self-service region moves. It is a stronger fit for one primary origin, a clearly identified audience and a buyer who values SPanel management, migration help and support.
