ScalaHosting Build #1 Add-Ons 2026: When $29.95 Becomes $94.95
The short answer
At a glance
- Best for
- Build #1 buyers deciding which LiteSpeed, backup, monitoring, resource and cPanel add-ons are worth recurring cost.
- Price model
- $29.95 intro / $54.95 renewal base; add-ons from $2 to $73.95+ monthly
- Check first
- Combination totals are planning; promotions and billing term can change checkout; included SPanel/OpenLiteSpeed may already satisfy many workloads.
Verdict
ScalaHosting Build #1 starts at **$29.95/month** and currently renews at **$54.95/month**, but LiteSpeed Enterprise, longer backup retention, monitoring, extra resources or cPanel can push the recurring bill much higher.
Use the included stack before buying licenses
Build #1 includes managed cloud hosting, unmetered bandwidth, automatic offsite backups, a dedicated IP and SPanel.
SPanel is included at no extra cost and supports Apache, Nginx reverse proxy and OpenLiteSpeed. Commercial LiteSpeed Web Server is optional and licensed separately.
For many WordPress sites, the cheapest sensible path is to test SPanel/OpenLiteSpeed before paying for familiar commercial software. Add a license because a measured requirement needs it, not because it is conventional.
LiteSpeed can add $10–$36 per month
Current LiteSpeed options are **$10/month** for 5 domains/8GB RAM, **$16** for 5 domains/unlimited RAM, **$26** for unlimited domains/8GB RAM and **$36** for unlimited domains/unlimited RAM.
The $10 option moves current Build #1 arithmetic from **$29.95 to $39.95** during the intro reference and from **$54.95 to $64.95** at renewal.
The $36 option makes the same references **$65.95** and **$90.95**. These are planning sums, not checkout guarantees; ScalaHosting says premium add-on prices can vary with promotions.
Backup retention and monitoring can add $21–$30
ScalaHosting currently lists **3-day backup retention at $6/month**, **7-day retention at $15/month** and **proactive monitoring at $15/month**.
Seven-day retention plus monitoring adds **$30/month**, making the current base references roughly **$59.95 intro / $84.95 renewal** before LiteSpeed, cPanel or resource upgrades.
Add the smallest $10 LiteSpeed license and the same planning becomes about **$69.95 / $94.95**.
A brochure site may not need every add-on. A store or agency may value longer recovery and proactive monitoring enough to justify the recurring cost.
cPanel can cost more than the web server
SPanel is included; cPanel is paid. Current cPanel rates are **$32.95/month for 5 accounts**, **$41.95 for 30**, **$56.95 for 50** and **$73.95 for 100**.
The 5-account license changes Build #1 arithmetic to about **$62.90 intro / $87.90 renewal**. Add the $10 LiteSpeed license and it becomes about **$72.90 / $97.90** before tax.
cPanel can still be the right choice for existing client workflows, but buyers should pay for compatibility, not habit.
Resource upgrades are small individually—and large in aggregate
Additional resources currently cost **$10 per CPU core**, **$3 per 1GB RAM** and **$2 per 10GB SSD**.
A +1 CPU, +2GB RAM and +20GB SSD package adds **$20/month**, or $240/year. ScalaHosting says resource upgrades are automated in roughly 1–3 minutes, so there is little reason to oversize on day one.
Three realistic recurring budgets illustrate the point: a lean SPanel build stays near the base; a $10 LiteSpeed + $15 seven-day backup + $15 monitoring stack adds $40/month; a 5-account cPanel + $10 LiteSpeed stack adds $42.95/month.
Checkout checklist
Decide whether SPanel/OpenLiteSpeed is sufficient; how many restore days are actually required; whether proactive monitoring replaces staff work; what CPU/RAM/storage growth is measured; and whether cPanel compatibility is genuinely necessary.
Then verify the selected term, first invoice, **$54.95 current renewal reference**, each add-on's recurring price and the final checkout total.
**Bottom line:** Build #1 can remain strong value, but $29.95 is only the budget starting point. The disciplined buyer uses the included stack first and adds only what solves a proven requirement.
