Pressidium Starter SSL: Free Let's Encrypt, but DNS Can Still Break HTTPS

The short answer

Pressidium Starter includes a managed path to **free Let's Encrypt SSL**, but HTTPS still depends on correct DNS, certificate-authority policy and clean WordPress URLs. The current Starter plan is $299 prepaid annually ($25/month equivalent), with one site, 10GB storage, 50K designed monthly visits and 50GB CDN.

The key buying point is that Pressidium can automate certificate issuance and renewal, but it cannot make a mispointed domain, restrictive CAA record or mixed-content WordPress page magically valid.

Free Let's Encrypt is built into the dashboard

Pressidium lets you map a domain, enable HTTPS and choose a free Let's Encrypt certificate from the Dashboard. The platform provisions the certificate as a background task.

This removes the need to buy an ordinary domain-validated certificate separately for most WordPress sites.

DNS must be correct before issuance works

Pressidium explicitly requires the domain to point to the correct platform records before certificate validation can complete.

During a migration, verify both the root domain and www if visitors use both. A certificate can be valid for one hostname while the other still points elsewhere or remains uncovered.

CAA can block an otherwise-correct setup

If the domain publishes CAA records, those records can restrict which certificate authorities are allowed to issue. Pressidium documents specific CAA requirements for its EDGE certificate flow.

Let's Encrypt independently documents the same DNS mechanism. If issuance remains pending even though A/AAAA/CNAME records look correct, inspect CAA before repeatedly retrying the certificate request.

Automatic renewal still depends on the domain staying valid

Pressidium says its managed Let's Encrypt certificates renew automatically. That is valuable because certificate lifecycle work becomes a platform task rather than a calendar reminder.

But automation depends on the domain continuing to resolve and validate correctly. If DNS is moved later, a future renewal can fail even though the certificate works today.

HTTPS can still look broken after the certificate is active

Pressidium's current troubleshooting guide lists hostname mismatch, redirect loops and mixed content among common causes of browser SSL warnings. Cloudflare's SSL troubleshooting draws the same boundary between certificate/DNS errors and application mixed-content or redirect problems.

WordPress also needs consistent HTTPS URLs. After enabling SSL, test the homepage, login, forms, checkout, images, scripts and canonical redirects. A browser warning on one page may be an application-content problem rather than a failed certificate.

Custom certificates are still an option

Pressidium supports uploaded third-party certificates in addition to the managed free option. That matters for organizations that specifically require a commercial certificate workflow or must manage their own private key/certificate chain.

For a typical blog, store or business site, free managed Let's Encrypt is usually the simpler operational choice.

Buying decision

Choose Pressidium Starter if you want managed WordPress with free automated SSL and support around DNS/HTTPS setup. The tradeoff is that you still own the domain-side correctness: DNS, CAA, redirects and WordPress content must remain consistent.
