Bottom line

Stay on Namecheap Stellar while three websites, 20 GB storage and shared-server limits still fit. Moving to Quasar with Complete Management and cPanel Solo is defensible only when a measured resource, isolation or support requirement is worth roughly **$649.24 more per renewal year** before tax. It is not a routine “faster hosting” upgrade.

The comparison must use the whole stack. Quasar's server, Complete Management and cPanel license are three price lines. Complete also removes root, reboot and SolusVM privileges from the customer, despite the generic VPS page describing root as a VPS feature.

What changes

Stellar is a shared cPanel account: three websites, 20 GB SSD, 30 mailboxes and shared infrastructure. Quasar provides 4 vCPU, 6 GB RAM, 120 GB SSD and 3 TB transfer, but the buyer must still select management and a control panel.

Complete Management costs $25/month and handles core server services. It provides reseller-level WHM/cPanel, not root access. Its Quasar backup allocation is 100 GB and guarantees one weekly copy only if the accounts fit, so a 120 GB server does not equal 120 GB of managed offsite backup.

cPanel Solo adds $17.88/month and covers one cPanel account. Five accounts require Tier 1 at $20.88/month. Count accounts, not just websites, before checkout.

Renewal-year economics

The current official support table lists Stellar at $55.88/year on renewal. The Quasar annual base renews at $190.56/year; Complete adds $300/year and Solo adds $214.56/year. That produces a planning total of **$705.12/year**, or **$649.24 more than Stellar renewal**.

The first Quasar year can be lower because the annual base is currently displayed at $154.56, making the full first-year stack $669.12. Promotions, tax and cart configuration can change. Do not mix a monthly base, annual management arithmetic and an old cPanel price in one total.

Upgrade only when the trigger is measurable

A defensible trigger is sustained CPU, RAM or I/O pressure; recurring shared-plan throttling; a need for stronger workload isolation; or an application requirement that clearly exceeds shared hosting. Independent upgrade guides agree that “faster” is too vague: measure the failing workload first.

Do not upgrade merely because traffic had one spike, a plugin is slow, or a site needs ordinary caching work. Quasar Complete is much more expensive, has more operational moving parts and does not give the customer root. A smaller VPS with a different management model, or staying shared while optimizing the application, may be the better decision.

This is a migration, not a button

Namecheap says Shared-to-VPS changes go through Billing/Sales and that unused days on the old plan receive a proportionate refund. That is not a promise of one-click conversion or automatic credit at checkout. Ask for a written quote showing the new server, management, cPanel tier, unused-term credit and activation date.

For migration assistance, Complete or Basic management and cPanel matter. Namecheap checks compatibility; manual transfers may not preserve every setting or email workflow. Create independent file, database and mailbox exports, preview the site on the new server, reduce DNS TTL, then change DNS. Keep Stellar active for roughly 72 hours after the nameserver change so late DNS caches still reach a live copy.

Refund and rollback boundary

A first-time hosting account may qualify for the 30-day guarantee, but cPanel and other third-party licenses are non-refundable. Treat the migration as a paid cutover, not a risk-free trial of the entire stack.

Decision

Choose **stay on Stellar** when limits still fit and low operating cost is the priority. Choose **Quasar Complete + Solo** when dedicated resources and provider-managed core services solve a documented problem and one cPanel account is enough. Choose another stack when root access, more accounts or a different backup model is essential.
