InMotion Hosting Launch: $4.99 for 36 Months vs $13.99 Renewal
The short answer
InMotion Hosting Launch currently gives two websites and 100GB NVMe storage on cPanel. On the 3-year path, the public Shared Hosting table shows $4.99/month and a $13.99/month renewal reference; the first-term arithmetic is $179.64 before taxes or add-ons. The bigger budget surprise is backups: automatic off-server Backup Manager is an optional paid add-on rather than a free Launch feature.

The 36-month price is cheap only if you budget the renewal now
InMotion's current Shared Hosting table is organized by 3 Year, 2 Year, 1 Year and 1 Month. Launch shows $4.99/$13.99 for 3 years, $4.99/$13.99 for 2 years, $4.79/$14.99 for 1 year and $16.99/$16.99 month-to-month.
For the 36-month route, $4.99 × 36 = $179.64 before tax and extras. Do not treat the $13.99 renewal reference as a promise that future rates can never change; the current order and later renewal notice remain controlling.
Two sites and 100GB make Launch roomy, but not every feature is equal
Launch currently supports two websites, 100GB NVMe storage and unmetered bandwidth. The plan page also shows roughly 50,000 visits per month as a planning figure, chat/ticket support, free SSL and cPanel.
That makes Launch more spacious than many one-site entry plans. But the traffic figure is not a guaranteed capacity ceiling, and Launch does not publish dedicated CPU/RAM values in the same comparison table. Choose it for the two-site/storage envelope, not because a marketing speed multiplier guarantees a particular workload.
Automatic backups are a paid add-on—include that in the real budget
InMotion's Shared Hosting product guide says automatic backups are optional on shared plans. Backup Manager currently costs $2.99/month and includes 10GB of remote backup storage; extra storage is sold separately. Scheduled backups can stop if the selected account data exceeds the purchased backup quota.
That means a Launch account using tens of gigabytes cannot assume the base 10GB backup subscription protects everything. Decide before launch whether to buy enough Backup Manager capacity, create manual cPanel backups, or use another external backup path.
Free migration is useful, but plan identity can block a full restore
InMotion offers at least one free website transfer to new customers. Its current cPanel migration guide says a full cPanel backup can include website files, email, settings and MySQL databases, but the destination plan must support the number of websites and databases being restored.
The same guide warns that restoring a cPanel backup overwrites existing cPanel data on the destination account. Keep the old host active, preserve an independent copy, and validate representative pages, databases, forms, email and DNS before cancelling the previous service.
The 90-day refund message needs a conservative reading
InMotion's current guarantee page says all Shared Hosting plans come with a full 90-day money-back guarantee, while its current Web Hosting FAQ says prepaid yearly customers may receive prorated refunds based on usage and specifically describes days 31–90 as prorated for qualifying 90-day plans.
Because those two official descriptions are not fully aligned, this guide does not promise a full refund on day 89 of a 36-month Launch order. Confirm the exact refund treatment attached to the order. Domain registrations, add-ons and professional services are excluded; a free first-year domain on qualifying 12/24/36-month terms can also reduce the refund by the domain registration fee.
Who Launch fits—and what to save before paying
Launch fits someone who actually wants up to two sites, values 100GB NVMe and cPanel, can commit to a long first term, and is willing to budget separately for automatic remote backups.
Before paying, save the selected 36-month term, checkout total, $13.99 renewal reference, current refund wording and free-domain conditions. If you need only one tiny site, dislike long prepayment, or expect automated backups to be included in the headline hosting price, compare a shorter-term or different entry plan first.
