Two mailboxes are the first hard planning boundary
Essentials currently includes only two cPanel email addresses. That can be enough for a solo business using hello@ and billing@, but it is not a team mailbox platform. If sales, support, operations and multiple employees need independent inboxes, compare a higher HostPapa tier or dedicated business email before assuming unlimited addresses.
50/hour is the default; 200/hour is the Essentials ceiling
HostPapa says included cPanel mail starts at **50 outbound emails per hour for each address**. The table lists Essentials at **up to 200 emails/hour**, and support can raise the threshold on request depending on plan and fair-use rules. “200/hour” is therefore not the automatic starting allowance, and HostPapa explicitly says the service is not for mass mailing/newsletters.
Storage, attachments and IMAP are separate limits
Each Essentials mailbox is capped at 1GB and the total email allocation is 2GB. The same table lists a **20MB attachment limit** and **25 concurrent IMAP connections per address**. A mailbox connected to many phones, desktops and help-desk tools can exhaust the connection limit even when storage and sending are fine.
Do not mix cPanel email with HostPapa Business Email
HostPapa separately sells Business Email, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. Their mailbox storage, daily sending and attachment rules are different, and HostPapa explicitly directs shared-hosting users back to the cPanel-email limit guides. A higher quota on Advanced Email is not evidence that Essentials includes the same capacity.
Model WooCommerce by the busiest hour
A store may average few orders per day and still create a burst of receipts, admin copies, password resets, form notices and retries. WooCommerce logs can show every attempt and failure, so compare the **busiest 60 minutes** with the current HostPapa allowance.
If the store stays comfortably below 50/hour per sending address, the default may be enough. If it approaches the default or needs better logs/retries, confirm the support-raised limit or use an authenticated external transactional provider. An SMTP plugin only changes the path when it actually uses a different upstream service.
