The 36-month hosting bill is $106.20 before extras
HostPapa's current Web Hosting page lists Essentials at $2.95/month with a three-year discounted term. Simple arithmetic makes the first hosting payment $106.20 before taxes, domain-related charges or optional services.
The separate renewal table is unusually specific: Essentials renews at $8.99/month on another three-year cycle, billed $323.64. One-year and two-year renewals are different—$10.99/month and $9.99/month respectively—so compare like-for-like terms rather than quoting one renewal number without its billing cycle.
One core and 1GB memory define the real entry-plan ceiling
Essentials currently supports one website and 25GB NVMe storage. HostPapa's 2026 resource chart makes the shared-resource boundary more concrete: 10 entry processes, one CPU core and 1,024MB memory.
That is enough context to reject a bad fit before buying. A small brochure site, blog or lightweight CMS can be a reasonable candidate; a busy store, large membership site or application already using sustained CPU/memory should compare a larger tier instead of treating the 25GB storage figure as the whole capacity story.
The backup allowance is much smaller than the hosting allowance
Essentials advertises 1GB of Automated Website Backup free for the first year. On 24- or 36-month hosting terms, that means a 12-month free backup trial; on one-month or 12-month hosting terms, the free trial is only three months.
The backup product keeps up to seven restore points and can cover site files, MySQL databases and cPanel email. But the Basic backup plan protects only up to 1GB unless you buy a larger storage tier. HostPapa's current renewal table prices the 1GB Automated Website Backup Basic plan at $47.99/year after the included period.
A 25GB hosting account therefore should not assume the free backup service protects all 25GB. Decide what data must fit inside the backup quota, upgrade the backup size if needed, and keep an independent copy for important content. HostPapa's Terms also place responsibility for storage, backup and archiving on the customer unless an included independent-backup service applies.
Free migration also has a 30-day clock
HostPapa's current migration page says free migration is for new accounts and must be initiated within 30 days after the welcome email. Full cPanel transfers can include domains, subdomains, settings, email accounts and email when the previous host's cPanel backup generator is available.
Manual transfers from non-cPanel hosts can require more reconstruction, and some site-builder platforms cannot be transferred. Keep the old host active until pages, databases, email and DNS have been accepted on HostPapa.
The refund deadline and migration deadline should both be saved on day one
HostPapa currently gives first-time hosting accounts a 30-day money-back period. Domain fees are non-refundable, and a free first-year domain can create a non-refundable domain charge if the hosting account is cancelled.
That creates two operational deadlines around the same first month: request the free migration within its 30-day window, and decide whether the hosting itself passes acceptance before the refund window closes. Put both dates in the project calendar instead of assuming support or migration work automatically extends the refund period.

Before paying, save the 36-month checkout total, the $8.99 three-year renewal reference, free-domain terms, backup trial end date and migration deadline.
