What the 36-month deal actually commits you to
The current shared-hosting page lists Start Dock at $1.99 per month on the 36-month billing cycle and $9.95 per month as the regular/renewal price. Simple arithmetic makes the displayed 36-month monthly equivalent $71.64 before taxes or add-ons, but the same promotion also advertises two months and an eligible domain name for free. Treat checkout—not multiplication alone—as the controlling record for the billed term, free months and final total.
The free-domain promotion is also narrower than a permanent free domain. HostArmada’s promotion/domain terms limit it to eligible extensions and describe the free registration/transfer period as no longer than one year before normal domain renewal fees apply.
The one-site resource envelope is easy to audit
Start Dock is explicitly a single-website plan. Current plan material lists 15GB NVMe storage, 2 CPU cores and 2GB RAM. That makes it easier to compare the site’s current storage and workload with a concrete entry envelope instead of an “unlimited” label.
The boundary is shared hosting, not a dedicated 2-core/2GB server. HostArmada’s Resource Usage Terms say shared accounts compete on shared infrastructure, must stay within plan limits and cannot use all provided resources for more than 80% of a given hour. A large WooCommerce store, media-heavy site or workload already pressing CPU/RAM/storage should compare a higher plan before a long prepayment.
Seven daily backups are useful—but the window is only seven days
HostArmada documents one automatic backup per day for Start Dock and seven available restore dates in a rolling cycle. On day eight, the oldest restore point is removed as a new one is created.
That is useful for routine mistakes discovered quickly, but it is not long-term archive storage. Keep at least one independent backup for important content, especially before major updates or migrations. The seven-day retention is a reason to decide how quickly your team normally notices a bad deployment or data problem.
Migration help reduces work, but validate what moved
The current plan includes free website migration. HostArmada explains that a full cPanel migration can copy the complete account, while a manual migration may move site files and databases without automatically carrying email accounts, aliases or subdomains.
Keep the old host active until representative pages, forms, logins, SSL, DNS and email routing are checked. Free migration is valuable when it removes transfer work; it is not a reason to cancel the old service before the copied site has been accepted.
Use the 45-day refund period as a real acceptance window
Initial Shared Hosting orders can qualify for HostArmada’s 45-day money-back policy, but monthly-billing Shared Hosting is excluded from a full refund. Domain registration/transfer costs can also be withheld when a promotional domain is involved.
The same policy says promotional hosting renews at the regular price. It also says a non-renewed Shared Hosting account may be kept for no more than five calendar days after the due date before the account, data and generated backups are deleted. That makes renewal/exit planning more than a price question: keep an external backup and do not treat the post-due-date period as storage.
When Start Dock is enough—and when to move up
Start Dock fits one small site when 15GB storage and the shared 2-core/2GB envelope leave comfortable room, seven-day restore history is enough for routine rollback, and the 36-month first term plus $9.95 renewal is acceptable.
Move up or choose another host when you need multiple sites, longer provider-side backup history, sustained heavier resource use, or a shorter commitment. Before paying, save the exact term, checkout total, renewal line, free-month/domain terms and selected data center. Those details are more useful than a third-party performance score that came from another server, date or plan.
