TOOLNAVIA / BUYING GUIDE

Cloudways vs Hostinger After Your Site Grows: $28 Cloud or $25.99 Renewal?

The short answer

Hostinger Cloud Startup and Cloudways DigitalOcean Premium 2GB can end up in a surprisingly similar renewal-price range, but the path there is very different. Hostinger currently advertises Cloud Startup at $7.99/month equivalent on a 48-month prepaid term and $25.99/month at renewal. Cloudways Premium 2GB is $28/month on the current DigitalOcean table and is pay-as-you-go.

Hostinger wins the introductory bundle; Cloudways avoids a 48-month commitment

Hostinger's current Cloud Startup offer is $383.52 prepaid for 48 months before tax, based on the advertised $7.99 monthly equivalent. The page currently displays renewal at $25.99/month.

Cloudways Premium 2GB is $28/month, or $336 over 12 continuously provisioned months before backup storage, tax and paid add-ons. It does not require the same four-year prepayment.

That makes Hostinger much cheaper during the long intro term, while its displayed renewal sits close to the current Cloudways 2GB Premium price. At renewal, compare the complete bundle and the amount of infrastructure control you actually need.

Hostinger Cloud Startup is a bundled growth package

Current Hostinger pages list 100GB NVMe storage, daily/on-demand backups, CDN, a dedicated IP, priority support and 4GB RAM for Cloud Startup. Some current Hostinger pages differ on website-count wording, so verify the live checkout and account entitlement instead of using site count as the deciding claim.

Hostinger also provides built-in WordPress staging on Business and higher plans. Its staging documentation warns that publishing replaces live files and database, so changes made on production after the staging copy can be overwritten.

This bundle suits a team that wants hPanel to combine hosting, WordPress tools and common site services without choosing an underlying cloud provider.

Cloudways is more modular: buy the server, then add what you need

Cloudways Flexible lets you choose cloud provider, server size and region. The current DigitalOcean Premium 2GB tier lists 1 vCPU, 2GB RAM, 50GB NVMe storage and 2TB transfer at $28/month.

Multiple applications can share that server when resources permit, and the vertical-scaling path is explicit. The trade-off is that the server price is not an all-inclusive bill. Flexible off-site backups are currently $0.033/GB, rounded in $0.50 increments, and paid add-ons can increase the invoice.

Growth alone is not a reason to migrate

Do not move from Hostinger merely because page views increased. Identify the bottleneck first: CPU saturation, memory pressure, slow dynamic requests, multi-site resource contention, staging workflow, or a need for provider/region choice.

Hostinger's higher tiers can solve many growth problems. Cloudways becomes more compelling when you specifically need server-level sizing, pay-as-you-go billing, multi-app consolidation or a clearer vertical-scaling path.

If the real issue is unpredictable WooCommerce concurrency rather than server sizing, compare Cloudways Autonomous separately instead of assuming a 2GB Flexible server is the answer.

Test the maintenance workflow before moving

Because both platforms support staging at the relevant higher tiers, rehearse the same real change: create staging, update a plugin or theme, confirm database behavior and document what will be pushed to production.

A platform that makes recurring maintenance safer is more valuable than one with a longer feature list. Also test backup restore, DNS changes and the exact migration path before canceling the old host.

Decision: compare at renewal, not against an old intro banner

Stay on Hostinger Cloud Startup when the bundle is sufficient, the team prefers hPanel and the long-term billing structure is acceptable.

Move to Cloudways when you can name an operational reason: server resource visibility, provider/region choice, pay-as-you-go commitment, multi-app consolidation or a vertical-scaling workflow that fits better.

At a Hostinger renewal point, the current displayed $25.99/month versus Cloudways Premium 2GB at $28/month is close enough that the complete monthly bill—backup, email and other add-ons—matters more than the old promotional headline.
