ChemiCloud Starter vs Pro: Is the Upgrade Worth It?
The short answer
Choose ChemiCloud Starter for one modest website that fits 20GB; choose Pro when a second site or a larger shared resource budget solves a real constraint. Pro’s displayed promotional premium is only $1 per month, but its regular-price premium is $6. This is official-source analysis, not a performance test.
At a glance
- Best for
- One-site buyers and owners adding a second modest website.
- Price model
- $1.95 vs $2.95 promo display; term and invoice require confirmation
- Check first
- No measured speed verdict; Pro is not isolated hosting for unrelated clients.
What the extra dollar actually buys
The current shared-hosting cards show Starter at $1.95/month and Pro at $2.95, with regular references of $11.95 and $17.95 respectively. Starter allows one website; Pro advertises unlimited websites within one account’s limits. Both include cPanel, SSL, email and migration, so those common features alone do not justify upgrading.
Pro increases storage from 20GB to 35GB, CPU from one to two cores, memory from 2GB to 4GB and inodes from 250,000 to 350,000. Its daily backup history is 20 points versus Starter’s 10. These are shared-account allowances, not a dedicated server or a fresh allowance for every additional domain.
Starter’s advantages are a lower recurring commitment and a sufficient published envelope for a single small site. Pro’s advantages are hosting more than one website and giving those sites a larger combined working budget. Neither tier is automatically the right choice because of an “unlimited” label.
Separate the offer display from the invoice
There is a current pricing discrepancy worth keeping visible. ChemiCloud’s older official pricing article lists $2.49 and $3.49 on 36-month examples, while today’s live cards show $1.95 and $2.95. The live page also displays an unavailable-for-selected-timeframe message. We have not completed a cart proving that the lowest current figures are available for every billing cycle.
If checkout confirms those current rates for 36 months, Starter’s base first invoice would be $70.20 and Pro’s $106.20: a $36 difference before tax or extras. This is conditional multiplication, not a quoted cart. At today’s regular references, the equivalent 36-month amounts are $430.20 and $646.20, a $216 difference.
Terms apply introductory discounts to the initial term and use then-current standard pricing for renewal. The $11.95/$17.95 references therefore help budget, but do not freeze future invoices. Check both the payable total now and the renewal notice before accepting a long commitment.
A second site is a better trigger than vague growth
Suppose one site uses 12GB and a second uses 11GB. Their combined 23GB would exceed Starter’s storage and its one-site allowance, while fitting Pro’s 35GB storage on paper. This makes Pro a relevant candidate, subject to file count, CPU and memory usage.
Add a third 15GB site and the total becomes 38GB. Pro’s unlimited-site label does not solve that storage problem. Database imports, backups and cache files also need working room; size the combined account instead of merely counting domains.
Two separate Starter accounts would total $23.90/month at current regular references, versus $17.95 for one Pro account. The $5.95 difference can make consolidation attractive, but the accounts are not equivalent: putting unrelated clients in one account changes administrative separation and recovery scope. Keep separate hosting when separate access, billing or incident boundaries matter more than the saving.
For one small site already running comfortably, Starter avoids paying for capacity without a concrete use. Its lower regular reference remains useful after the headline promotion ends.
Existing customers need an upgrade quote
The $2.95 display is not a promise that an existing Starter customer can move an already-hosted project onto a fresh introductory term. ChemiCloud’s terms distinguish a genuinely new project from upgrading an existing one and do not make existing hosted projects eligible for the new introductory price.
Ask billing for the amount due today, any credit for the unused Starter term, the new renewal date and the recurring rate. Do not cancel and recreate an account to chase a headline discount. Compare the actual upgrade invoice with keeping Starter until a specific capacity trigger appears.
For a new purchase, select the intended term and confirm that the order still says Pro before paying. Both plans share a product landing page, so an affiliate link cannot by itself select the correct tier.
More backup history does not remove restore work
Pro’s 20 daily recovery points can help when a faulty plugin or unnoticed content change is discovered after Starter’s shorter history. That is a useful operational difference, but ChemiCloud’s terms do not guarantee provider backups will always be available or restorable. Keep an external copy and test restoration.
Before consolidating sites, list every domain, mailbox, database and scheduled task. Request migration promptly, keep the old host active, and check each site’s forms, SSL and email before changing DNS. Confirm how an individual site can be restored without disturbing the others.
Qualifying first-time shared purchases have a 45-day initial money-back period from activation, with exclusions such as domains, paid migration and add-ons. It is not a universal refund promise for existing upgrades or later renewals.
Choose against a measurable requirement
Choose Starter if you have one modest site, comfortable storage and file-count headroom, and no demonstrated need for Pro’s higher account limits. Choose Pro if a second website, combined resource demand or longer recovery history earns its higher recurring cost.
Before ordering, record the tier, term, tax-inclusive invoice and renewal reference. Before upgrading, obtain the account-specific quote. These steps turn a $1 marketing comparison into a decision you can actually budget.
