ChemiCloud Starter Cron Jobs: 15-Minute Minimum & NPROC Limits

The short answer

ChemiCloud Starter includes custom cron jobs, but the most important buying limit is not visible in the feature checkbox: shared-hosting cron jobs may not run more often than once every 15 minutes. ChemiCloud says jobs set to a shorter interval are automatically reset to 15 minutes without prior notice. That is fine for many maintenance tasks, but it matters for queues, imports and automation that expect near-real-time execution.

Sub-15-minute schedules can be reset and process-heavy jobs can still hit limits.

What Starter includes

ChemiCloud currently lists Starter from a $1.95/month promotional reference against an $11.95 regular reference, with one website, cPanel, multiple PHP versions, SSH/SFTP, Git and custom cron jobs.

The hard shared-hosting floor is 15 minutes

ChemiCloud's Resource Usage Policies state that a cron job on shared hosting should not execute more frequently than once every 15 minutes. If configured for a shorter interval, the system can reset it to 15 minutes automatically.

cPanel lets you define timing, command and output email

ChemiCloud's cPanel cron guide shows Advanced → Cron Jobs, common timing presets, custom schedule fields and command paths such as the PHP binary plus script path. It also explains that cron output can be emailed when the command produces output.

NPROC means cron competes with other account tasks

ChemiCloud's resource-usage guide explains that NPROC counts tasks such as programs, SSH sessions, cron jobs and email services inside the hosting environment. One legal cron schedule can still create account pressure if each run spawns many processes.

WP-Cron does not bypass the provider floor

WordPress WP-Cron is triggered by page loads rather than running continuously like a system scheduler. If you replace WP-Cron with real cPanel cron, the ChemiCloud 15-minute shared-host floor still matters.

Avoid overlap and test the exact command

cPanel warns that overly frequent cron schedules can overlap and degrade performance. Choose a cadence that is both allowed and long enough for the prior run to finish, then test the absolute path, PHP version and output.

Buying decision

Choose ChemiCloud Starter when recurring jobs can tolerate a 15-minute minimum and remain short enough for shared-host process limits. Do not choose it for guaranteed sub-15-minute workers, long-running daemons or frequent process-heavy queues; ChemiCloud points those workloads toward VPS hosting.
