Webflow Premium vs Basic: Is CMS Worth $120/Year More in 2026?

The short answer

Webflow Premium is $25 per month when billed yearly, while Basic is $15, so the plan difference is $120 per year for one site. The upgrade is unusually easy to frame: Basic is for a custom-domain site that does not need a CMS, while Premium adds Webflow CMS with up to 20,000 CMS items and 40 Collections, plus site search, form file upload, well-known files and code components. If the site is a blog, directory, resource library, portfolio with structured projects, or any other content-rich property, Premium can solve a real publishing problem. A mostly static marketing site may not need it.

Basic is already a capable static-site plan

Basic includes a custom domain, up to 300 static pages, 10 GB bandwidth, unlimited form submissions, password protection, Webflow AI, MCP server access and Webflow Cloud app hosting. For a brochure site, campaign site, product microsite or small business site whose content changes manually on fixed pages, those limits can be generous. Paying for Premium only because it is the “next tier” does not create value if there is no structured content to manage.

Premium's $120 premium is fundamentally a CMS purchase

Premium includes everything in Basic and adds the Webflow CMS. The current pricing page shows 20,000 CMS items and 40 CMS Collections. That is a substantial capacity jump from “no CMS” on Basic. The practical benefit is not the raw item count; it is being able to define reusable content structures such as articles, team members, locations, jobs, case studies or directory listings and render them through collection templates rather than maintaining hundreds of static pages individually.

The May 2026 plan restructure matters

Webflow changed its Site plan lineup in May 2026. The old CMS and Business plans were consolidated into the new Premium plan, priced at $25/month billed yearly or $39/month monthly. The current Premium plan includes 20,000 CMS items and 40 Collections, while the current Basic plan moved to $15 yearly or $25 monthly and 300 static pages. Older reviews that still tell buyers to choose between $23 CMS and $39 Business are describing the pre-May lineup, so current plan decisions should use Webflow's new structure.

Premium also adds content-site workflow tools

Beyond the CMS itself, Premium adds site search, form file uploads, well-known files and code components. Those features are useful for content-heavy sites and more technical integrations, but they are secondary to the CMS decision. Premium does not automatically include paid Workspace seats for a team; Webflow separately prices Workspace collaboration, including full and limited seats. A company should therefore avoid assuming the $25 Site plan alone covers every collaboration cost.

The affiliate program makes Webflow commercially attractive

Webflow's current affiliate program is designed for influencers, educators, bloggers, businesses and others with a digital audience. Approved affiliates earn 50% revenue share on a qualified new user's first eligible Site or Workspace subscription for up to 12 months of an active monthly plan, or on the first annual plan purchase. The program uses a 90-day cookie and pays through PayPal or Stripe. Toolnavia has not applied or been approved, so tracking remains disabled and no paid referral CTA is presented as active.

Before upgrading, ask one question: does this site need repeatable, structured content? If no, Basic can publish a custom-domain site for $180/year on annual billing. If yes, Premium costs $300/year and the extra $120 buys the CMS plus content-site tools. For most buyers, that CMS requirement—not the longest feature list—should decide the plan.
