Verdict

PowerDVD 365 is the cleaner choice if you want CyberLink's Ultra-level playback features plus 100GB of cloud storage that continues while the subscription remains active. The current annual subscription is $54.99 per 12 months. PowerDVD 24 Ultra is currently $79.99 as a one-time promotional purchase, down from a regular $99.99 display. The real decision is recurring access plus continuing cloud versus owning the current Ultra version outright.

What 365 includes that matters

CyberLink says PowerDVD 365 has the same features as PowerDVD 24 Ultra on an annual subscription. The current comparison includes Blu-ray playback, HEVC, TV mode, casting to Apple TV, Chromecast, Fire TV and Roku, plus mobile/browser playback and home streaming. Those are documented capabilities, not Toolnavia playback-quality measurements.

The cloud difference is more durable than the headline price. PowerDVD 365 keeps 100GB of CyberLink Cloud while the subscription stays active. Ultra also includes 100GB, but the current buy page lists that cloud entitlement for one year.

PowerDVD 365 is the recurring version, while Ultra is a one-time license for the current PowerDVD 24 major version. Their current feature lists overlap heavily, but their ownership and continuing-service models do not.

$54.99/year versus $79.99 Ultra

CyberLink's current US store lists PowerDVD 365 at $54.99 for 12 months, or $4.58/month equivalent. PowerDVD 24 Ultra is currently $79.99 one-time, with a regular $99.99 reference price. PowerDVD Standard is $59.99 one-time but omits many Ultra/365 features such as Blu-ray, HEVC, TV mode, broader casting and cloud streaming.

At today's displayed prices, Ultra costs $25 more upfront than one year of 365. That does not create a reliable break-even date. A second 365 year depends on the future renewal price, while Ultra owns the current major version but does not keep subscription cloud access indefinitely.

Platform and cloud boundaries

PowerDVD is Windows-only. CyberLink explicitly says there is no Mac version. Current specifications support Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit for Ultra/365, with additional hardware and OS requirements for features such as 8K, 4K, HDR and Blu-ray playback.

CyberLink's subscription agreement also says cloud-stored data is deleted 90 days after a subscription ends or expires. Important media should exist somewhere outside CyberLink Cloud before the paid term ends. The 100GB benefit should be treated as subscription storage, not permanent archive.

Renewal and refund boundaries

CyberLink subscriptions auto-renew until canceled. If subscription pricing changes at the end of a term, CyberLink says it will notify the customer before the new renewal is applied. The current PowerDVD 365 page does not publish a guaranteed fixed future renewal amount, so $54.99 is today's verified annual price, not a lifetime renewal promise.

CyberLink's online-store terms provide a 30-day money-back framework for direct software purchases. Turning off auto-renewal and requesting a refund are separate actions. Renewal is managed in CyberLink Member Zone; an eligible refund uses the refund route separately.

How alternatives frame the value

VLC is free and open source, runs across Windows, macOS, Linux and mobile platforms, and plays most multimedia files, DVDs and streams. It is a strong no-cost route when you do not need PowerDVD's commercial Blu-ray, home-theater and cloud feature set.

Leawo offers a free Blu-ray Player route, while Premium is currently $44.95/year or $99.95 lifetime for one PC. PlayerFab's current official-domain pricing lists $49.99 one-time for DVD Player, $79.99 for Blu-ray Player, $99.99 for Ultra HD Player and $169.99 for All-In-One. JRiver Media Center currently costs $99.98 for a Windows major-version license. These are pricing-and-scope references, not playback-quality rankings.

Next step

Choose PowerDVD 365 if Ultra-level playback, ongoing subscription access and 100GB cloud beyond the first year are recurring needs. Choose PowerDVD 24 Ultra if you prefer a one-time license and can accept that its included cloud allocation is only for one year.
