Metricool Advanced vs Starter: Are Approvals & API Worth $33/Month More?
The short answer
Metricool Starter starts at $20 per month when billed annually for up to five brands, while Advanced starts at $53 for up to 15 brands. The $33 monthly gap is not only a capacity jump. Advanced adds team and client management, role permissions, a post-approval system, complete X analytics, customizable report templates, Looker Studio connectivity and API access for tools such as Zapier and Make. A solo marketer can get substantial value from Starter. Advanced is the operational tier for agencies and teams that need governance and integrations.

Advanced triples the starting brand capacity
Starter's lowest paid tier covers up to five brands; Advanced starts at fifteen. That makes the price gap easier to justify for a small agency already managing several clients. But a solo user with three brands should not pay for fifteen simply because Advanced has more features.
Approval and roles are the real team boundary
Advanced adds team/client management, role management and post approval. Those features matter when several people create content but only a manager or client should approve publication. Starter can publish and report across brands, but it does not provide the same governance layer. If a team still approves posts in chat or email, Advanced can centralize that step.
API and Looker Studio make Advanced more extensible
Advanced includes Metricool API access and a Data Studio/Looker Studio connector. That can connect social data to external dashboards or automate workflows through Zapier and Make. The value is highest when those integrations already exist in the business. An API that nobody uses is not worth a $396 yearly upgrade by itself.
Starter remains strong for solo operations
Starter already provides unlimited publishing under Metricool's fair-use policy, LinkedIn connectivity, unlimited analytics history, PDF/PPT reports, multiple link-in-bio pages, Flows, Canva/Google Drive integrations and up to 100 competitor profiles. It is not a stripped-down plan. Advanced should solve a collaboration, reporting or API problem—not merely feel more professional.
The affiliate program starts at 25%
Metricool's current affiliate rules pay Tier 1 affiliates 25% of eligible referred subscription spend, capped at $100 per referred customer. Tier 2 pays 50%, capped at $300, under the current qualification rules. The program is available through the Metricool account, but participation remains subject to its legal terms. Choose Starter when a solo operator manages up to five brands and does not need approvals, roles or API access. Choose Advanced when client/team governance, 15-brand capacity or external reporting/automation is already part of the workflow.
