LifterLMS Infinity vs Universe: Is the 6th Site Worth $500 More?
The short answer
LifterLMS Universe currently costs $299 for the first year and covers five active sites. Infinity costs $799 and removes the live-site ceiling while adding 15 Advanced Add-Ons. That makes Infinity a $500 first-year upgrade—but the long-term gap is larger because renewals are $598 versus $1,598.
At a glance
- Best for
- A buyer with a sixth real live site or a recurring need for Infinity-only Advanced Add-Ons such as Advanced Quizzes, Assignments, Continuing Education, Course Cohorts, Groups or Private Areas.
- Price model
- Universe $299 first year / $598 renewal; Infinity $799 / $1,598
- Check first
- Full-price renewal gap is $1,000/year; unlimited sites and add-ons only pay off when actually used.
The sixth live site is the cleanest capacity trigger
Universe covers five live sites. Staging, development and test sites do not count against the live-site limit under LifterLMS's current rules. That means a sixth real production learning site—not a staging clone—is the first hard deployment reason to move to Infinity.
If an agency has only three or four real LMS sites, unlimited licensing is still mostly unused headroom.
Advanced Add-Ons can justify Infinity earlier
Infinity includes 15 Advanced Add-Ons such as Advanced Quizzes, Assignments, Continuing Education, Course Cohorts, Groups, Notes, Private Areas and more. A compliance training business, school or cohort program can therefore need Infinity even with fewer than six sites.
The correct question is whether those add-ons replace separate purchases or unlock a required teaching model. A bundle of unused features has no economic value.
Renewal changes the decision
Universe's current first-year price is $299 and full renewal is $598. Infinity is $799 first year and $1,598 at renewal. The renewal gap is $1,000 per year, double the first-year gap.
A buyer should therefore model the second year before treating the $500 introductory difference as the long-term cost.
What happens if you do not renew
LifterLMS says the site and open-source add-ons keep working after a license lapses, but updates, security upgrades and support access stop. That reduces hard lockout risk but does not make running old software indefinitely a good operational plan.
Compare other LMS models
LearnDash uses site-count packages, Tutor LMS has its own WordPress site ladder, while Thinkific, LearnWorlds and Teachable use hosted-platform tiers. Agencies should compare licensing architecture, not just first-year price.
LifterLMS has a public affiliate program, but Toolnavia approval and tracking are unverified.
Buying rule
Stay Universe for up to five real live sites when its ecommerce, CRM/email and forms integrations are sufficient. Choose Infinity when site 6+, unlimited portfolio deployment or one of the Advanced Add-Ons becomes a recurring requirement worth the $1,000 full-renewal gap.
