WPX Business vs Professional: Is $1,200 More Worth 15 Sites?
The short answer
WPX Professional costs exactly twice as much as Business on both the regular monthly price and the current five-year prepaid equivalent. Business is $29.99 monthly or $1,199.60 prepaid for five years; Professional is $59.99 monthly or $2,399.60 prepaid for five years.

The five-year upgrade costs exactly $1,200
Business's current five-year prepayment is $1,199.60. Professional is $2,399.60. That is an exact $1,200 premium. Month-to-month, the difference is $30: $29.99 versus $59.99. The right question is whether the extra capacity avoids a second account, an immediate upgrade, or a real resource bottleneck.
Site slots triple: 5 to 15
Business supports up to 5 websites; Professional supports up to 15. For a freelancer or agency with 6–15 active revenue-relevant sites, the Business site-count ceiling alone can justify Professional. With only 2–4 sites, ten unused slots do not create value.
Storage, bandwidth and workers scale sharply
Business publishes 20GB storage, 200GB bandwidth and 15 PHP workers. Professional publishes 40GB, 400GB and 45 PHP workers. Storage and bandwidth double, while PHP workers triple. A portfolio with more media, traffic or uncached requests can benefit, but “unlimited visitors” does not remove these resource boundaries.
Compute is the strongest technical upgrade trigger
Business has 5GB RAM and 1 CPU core; Professional has 15GB RAM and 2 CPU cores. For twice the price, Professional gives three times the RAM and twice the CPU. That can matter for dynamic WordPress, LMS, membership and other workloads that cannot be served mostly from cache. Published resources are capacity limits, not a guaranteed speed multiplier.
The managed-service bundle is mostly shared
WPX's managed service includes server-level security, malware removal, daily backups retained for 28 days, support, migration help and one-time optimization support. Professional is therefore mainly a capacity upgrade, not a completely different service tier.
Migration can expose the right tier
WPX says approved migrations are handled by its migration team, and each site needs its own migration form. Before choosing Professional, inventory each site's storage, bandwidth, plugin stack, PHP-worker pressure and dynamic workload. Use the 30-day money-back window to test a representative high-value site before locking into a long prepayment.
Ignore stale official plan snapshots
An older WPX location page still shows Business at $24.99 monthly / $249.99 yearly with 15GB storage. The current cart instead shows $29.99 regular monthly and 20GB. Use the current cart for the purchase decision and save the actual checkout terms before paying.
When Business is the better buy
Choose Business when five site slots are enough, 20GB/200GB fit comfortably and 1 CPU/15 PHP workers do not create a known bottleneck. Staying on Business keeps $1,200 in your pocket over the current five-year prepayment.
When Professional earns the extra $1,200
Choose Professional when the sixth site is real, storage/bandwidth is approaching Business limits, or the 2-core/15GB-RAM/45-worker envelope solves a known workload constraint. Professional doubles the price but materially increases capacity; if five sites fit, Business remains the cleaner value.
