WPX Business 99.95% Uptime: Is It a Real SLA?
The short answer
# WPX Business 99.95% Uptime: What the Guarantee Does—and Does Not—Prove
WPX advertises a 99.95% uptime guarantee and describes server uptime as a responsibility it manages. That is useful evidence of an operating target, but it is not enough by itself to calculate a buyer's credit after an outage. In the public WPX pages reviewed on October 24, 2026, we did not find a stated measurement window, monitoring source, excluded-downtime list, credit formula, or claim deadline. That does not prove that no account-specific SLA exists. It means a Business buyer should request the governing terms in writing before treating 99.95% as a financial remedy.

Decision in one minute
Choose WPX Business when the managed hosting stack, support, and the published server-uptime target fit your workflow. Do not choose it solely because 99.95% sounds like a refund promise. The public claim answers “what target does WPX market?” It does not fully answer “what outage qualifies, who measures it, and what compensation follows?”
Before checkout, ask WPX to identify the Business-plan document that controls uptime claims. Save the answer with your invoice. If the answer includes a private service-level annex, that annex—not a competitor's policy and not this article—controls your remedy.
The 99.95% number is server-level evidence, not a complete site-level SLA
WPX's managed-hosting explanation assigns 99.95% **server uptime** to WPX. The same page separates customer-controlled items such as site content, third-party plugin or theme code, browser problems, and ISP issues. That distinction matters: a visitor can see an unavailable storefront even when the server itself is running. DNS errors, a failed plugin deployment, an origin/CDN mismatch, or payment-provider failure may create a business outage without proving that WPX's measured server uptime fell below a threshold.
WPX's high-traffic and checkout pages repeat the 99.95% message. They support the existence of the marketing promise. They do not, on the retrieved text, show the full claims mechanism.
How much downtime would 99.95% imply?
If—and only if—the percentage were measured over a 30-day month, 0.05% would equal about 21.6 minutes. For 31 days, the arithmetic is about 22.32 minutes. These are illustrations, not WPX's stated allowance. A rolling-year method, event-based method, maintenance exclusion, or server-only measurement could produce a different result.
The safe buying question is therefore not “is 21.6 minutes guaranteed?” It is “what period and endpoint does WPX use for my Business account?”
Five SLA fields that remain undocumented in the reviewed public pages
1. **Measurement window:** calendar month, billing month, rolling period, or another interval. 2. **Measurement endpoint:** physical server, origin service, XDN edge, DNS, mail, or the complete website. 3. **Downtime authority:** WPX telemetry only, customer monitors, or a joint incident record. 4. **Exclusions:** planned maintenance, DDoS, customer code, DNS, third-party services, force majeure, or other events. 5. **Remedy:** service credit, refund, capped coupon, claim deadline, and whether a ticket is mandatory.
The reviewed WPX Terms of Service and policy index did not surface those details in a separately published uptime SLA. This is an evidence gap, not proof of an absent private agreement.
**Refund policy and Fixed For You are different promises.** WPX's refund policy covers cancellation under defined conditions, including timing and payment exclusions. It should not be relabeled as downtime compensation. The Fixed For You material describes support work for qualifying offline-site problems and defines tasks WPX does not undertake. A fast support response can reduce operational pain, but response speed is not restoration time, measured uptime, or a financial credit.
What more explicit SLA documentation looks like
Kinsta, Bluehost, and Namecheap EasyWP publish examples of the fields buyers should look for: monitoring method, monthly target, affected service, exclusions, credit scale, and claim deadline. Their policies are benchmarks for documentation completeness only. They must not be imported into WPX. A 99.95% WPX marketing figure cannot be compared fairly with another provider's percentage until measurement scope and remedies are aligned.
**Build an outage record that can support a claim.** Use independent probes from at least two regions and record UTC timestamps, DNS answers, TLS status, HTTP codes, and whether the origin and XDN edge behave differently. Preserve WPX ticket IDs and status messages. For a WordPress commerce site, also record whether the admin, checkout, database, email, and external payment services were reachable. This evidence does not force WPX to approve a claim, but it helps separate hosting, application, DNS, CDN, and third-party failure.
Questions to send before buying
Ask WPX support which document governs the 99.95% guarantee, what endpoint and period are measured, which events are excluded, what remedy and cap apply, and how quickly a claim must be filed. Request a written answer and keep it with the order record. If the terms later change, repeat the check at renewal.
Bottom line
WPX provides credible public evidence that it targets 99.95% server uptime and treats server availability as its responsibility. The reviewed public materials do not establish the complete claim mechanics.
