WPX Business Storage: Can 20GB Cover Five WordPress Sites?
The short answer
**Quick verdict:** WPX Business provides one 20GB pool for up to five WordPress sites, not 4GB guaranteed per site. It fits when combined usage stays comfortably below the cap; near 16GB, treat further growth as an upgrade signal.
At a glance
- Best for
- One to five lean WordPress sites with measured combined storage comfortably below 20GB.
- Price model
- $29.99 monthly or $1,199.60 prepaid five years / $19.99 equivalent
- Check first
- 20GB is shared by sites, databases, mail and personal backups; the 20% buffer is a planning heuristic.
The 20GB belongs to the whole plan
Current first-party pages list Business at five sites, 20GB storage and 200GB bandwidth. WPX's downgrade rules also require an account to be at or below five sites and 20GB before moving to Business. That wording makes the limit plan-wide, not a guaranteed slice for each domain. One site can use 10GB and leave the other four to share the remainder.
Several older reviews and a 2022 WPX post still show 15GB. The dated 15GB figure is useful historical context, but this guide uses the current 20GB value shown across WPX's homepage, landing page, downgrade documentation and 2026 material.
What actually consumes storage
WPX says plan usage includes WordPress files, databases, mailbox content and personal backups. Images, videos, cached copies, old themes, abandoned staging files and large log archives can therefore compete with normal database growth. “Unlimited mailboxes” does not mean unlimited mailbox storage.
The usage screen displays databases separately, but WPX says database size is still included in total disk usage. Read every number as part of one 20GB ceiling. Do not add the displayed database figure a second time when building a budget.
Model one, three and five sites
These are planning examples, not WPX quotas. A one-site account might use 8GB for the site and database, 2GB for mail and 2GB for a personal backup: **12GB used, 8GB free**. A three-site portfolio at 3GB per site, plus 3GB of mail and 2GB of personal backups, uses **14GB and leaves 6GB**.
A five-site portfolio at 2.4GB per site, plus 4GB of mail and a 2GB personal backup, reaches **18GB**, leaving only 2GB. The average looks small, yet the shared pool is nearly full. That is why “five sites supported” is a count ceiling, not proof that five media-heavy sites will fit.
Keep a headroom buffer
Toolnavia's practical planning rule is to leave about **20% headroom**, or 4GB on a 20GB plan. This is a heuristic, not an official WPX requirement. It gives space for updates, database growth, temporary archives and short-lived backup files.
Under that rule, the 12GB and 14GB examples remain comfortable, while the 18GB example should trigger cleanup, external mail/media storage, or an upgrade review. Check the WPX usage panel monthly and again before importing a large media library or cloning a site.
Backups are treated differently
WPX retains automatic daily backups for 28 days on a separate server, so those managed copies do not use the 20GB hosting pool. Personal backups are different: WPX says they stay for 24 hours and consume disk space.
That distinction matters during migrations and redesigns. Download personal archives after use and remove obsolete copies instead of assuming every backup is off-quota. Automatic retention also does not replace an independent backup policy for business-critical sites.
When Business stops fitting
Storage is only one upgrade signal. Upgrade when sustained usage approaches 16GB, when one site needs most of the pool, or when mail and media growth make monthly cleanup routine. Moving mail to a dedicated provider or large video/download assets to suitable external storage can postpone a hosting-tier change, but only if the workflow remains reliable.
Current WPX pricing shows Business at **$29.99 monthly**, or **$19.99/month equivalent with $1,199.60 prepaid for five years**. Verify the live checkout before paying because pricing and prepayment terms can change. The unconfirmed TOOLNAVIA coupon is not included here.
Purchase checklist
Record current files, databases, mailbox data and personal backups; model the next 12 months; keep at least 4GB of working headroom; then decide whether Business still fits. Use the exact Business checkout only after the five-site and 20GB limits match the portfolio.
Independent buyer guides and review pages consistently discuss WPX Business around the same five-site and 20GB decision envelope. They are useful for understanding buyer questions, but they do not override WPX's current plan, usage and billing pages when details differ.
**Bottom line:** WPX Business can be efficient for several lean WordPress sites, but 20GB is one shared budget. Buy it for a measured portfolio—not because five site slots sound like five equal storage allowances.
