InterServer Standard MySQL: DirectAdmin Repair, Optimize & Backup
The short answer
InterServer Standard includes unlimited MySQL databases, phpMyAdmin and DirectAdmin, but the useful buying distinction is between account-level database management and server-level database architecture. Standard users can create, remove, repair, check and optimize databases in DirectAdmin, while moving DirectAdmin itself to a separate remote MySQL server requires administrator-level server configuration.
At a glance
- Best for
- Application databases needing strong panel-level maintenance without dedicated DB-server administration.
- Price model
- $2.50 first month on current monthly path; $7/mo monthly renewal.
- Check first
- Unlimited database count does not provide dedicated DB resources or server-level tuning.
What Standard includes
InterServer currently sells Standard Web Hosting from $2.50 for the first month, with the normal monthly path renewing at $7. Its current technical-details page lists DirectAdmin, phpMyAdmin, unlimited MySQL databases, backup/restore and SSH access.
DirectAdmin handles lifecycle operations
InterServer's MySQL Management guide shows DirectAdmin users creating and deleting databases, using Repair, Check and Optimize, and uploading a database backup. Capture a known-good copy before repair or optimize operations because those actions can change database state.
phpMyAdmin is for data-level work
InterServer's reviewed phpMyAdmin guidance says users should prefer the provider-managed panel entry rather than installing a second exposed phpMyAdmin copy under a public website path. phpMyAdmin is appropriate for browsing tables, running SQL and import/export work. Its own documentation explains that MySQL/MariaDB privileges ultimately control what the database user can do.
A database backup is not a full-site backup
A database dump protects database content, but WordPress also depends on files, plugins, themes and uploads. Before a major migration or destructive SQL operation, keep both a database backup and a broader site recovery path.
Remote MySQL server configuration is a different class of control
InterServer also documents configuring DirectAdmin to use a separate remote MySQL server, but that requires editing DirectAdmin server configuration, database grants and phpMyAdmin server settings as an administrator. This is not a normal Standard shared-account feature.
Know when to escalate
A Standard account is well suited to local application databases, routine phpMyAdmin work, backup upload and table maintenance. If the workload needs dedicated database CPU, replication, custom server tuning or a separate MySQL host, move to infrastructure where you control server-level settings.
Buying decision
Choose InterServer Standard if you want inexpensive DirectAdmin hosting with strong account-level MySQL tools and phpMyAdmin. Do not confuse those tools with unrestricted database-server administration.
