BigScoots Essential 75 Extra Site vs Essential 200: Save $380.60 or Upgrade Resources?
The short answer
BigScoots Essential 75 plus one extra site is the better buy when two modest WordPress sites can share the original plan’s 75,000-visit guidance, 10GB storage and 150GB bandwidth. Essential 200 costs $380.60 more per year, but it becomes the safer purchase when the combined workload needs 200,000-visit guidance, 30GB storage, 750GB bandwidth or the included Boost license. The upgrade pays for a larger resource envelope—not merely a second site slot.

The two-site cost
Essential 75 is currently $35 month to month or $350 per year. BigScoots lists each additional WordPress install at $9.95 per month, even when the base plan is annual. That makes the practical first-year two-site total $469.40: $350 plus twelve $9.95 add-on charges.
Essential 200 is $85 monthly or $850 annually and already includes two WordPress sites. Against annual Essential 75 plus one added site, the upgrade is $380.60 more per year. On monthly billing, $44.95 versus $85 leaves a $40.05 monthly gap. BigScoots says displayed hosting-package prices include tax, but buyers should still recheck the cart, add-ons and billing term before paying.
What the add-on does—and does not add
The $9.95 add-on creates another WordPress install. It does not create another traffic or storage allowance: BigScoots explicitly says added installs remain within the plan’s existing traffic and storage allocation. Both sites therefore share Essential 75’s 75,000 monthly-visit guidance, 10GB storage and 150GB bandwidth.
That can be economical for a primary brochure site plus a small blog, a low-traffic client site, or a new project whose combined usage stays comfortably inside those boundaries. The benefit is concrete: a second managed WordPress site for $119.40 per year instead of buying the higher tier immediately.
The boundary is equally concrete. Two sites with large media libraries can fill 10GB quickly. BigScoots sells storage in 5GB increments for $5 per month, but extra disk does not raise the visit or bandwidth guidance. Adding 10GB would bring the annual scenario to $589.40 while still leaving both sites inside the Essential 75 traffic and bandwidth envelope.
What Essential 200 buys
Essential 200 includes two sites, 200,000 monthly visits of guidance, 30GB storage, 750GB bandwidth and one Boost license. Compared with Essential 75 plus the site add-on, that is 2.67 times the visit guidance, three times the storage and five times the bandwidth. Those are plan specifications, not measured speed or a guarantee that every site can handle a particular workload.
The included Boost license is relevant only if its edge-delivery and performance features solve a real requirement. A second site does not automatically receive another included Boost license; BigScoots’ checkout shows extra Boost licenses separately. Do not pay the $380.60 annual premium merely because “two sites” sounds like the next tier. Pay it when the combined resource envelope or included service has business value.
Choose by combined workload
Stay on Essential 75 and add one site when both sites together are small, storage remains below 10GB with room to grow, traffic fits under the 75,000 guidance, and 150GB bandwidth is sufficient. This path preserves $380.60 per year for content, maintenance or an independent backup.
Choose Essential 200 when combined traffic is approaching the lower tier’s guidance, storage growth would require repeated add-ons, bandwidth needs are materially higher, or the included Boost license is already on your purchase list. One revenue-critical site plus one campaign site may justify the larger envelope even before either becomes individually large.
Limits and source conflicts
Older third-party pages still show a $34.95 plan price, a 30-day refund window or legacy plan names. Current BigScoots pricing controls: $35 for Essential 75, $85 for Essential 200 and a 45-day money-back period. Independent pages help frame the purchase decision: HostProdigy covers managed-plan positioning, PulseSignal and SkipBlast discuss extra-site pricing, CoolNewApps compares Essential 75 and 200, CourierWellness describes owner use, and Hostalog preserves the stale price and refund snapshots disclosed here. They do not override current checkout data or prove performance.

Next step
Estimate the next 12 months of combined visits, storage and bandwidth for both sites. If all three fit Essential 75 with meaningful headroom, add the $9.95 site. If two or more dimensions are already close to the lower limits—or you already need Boost—price Essential 200 at checkout. Save the cart total and reassess before renewal because prices and add-ons can change.
