BigScoots Essential 75 Cancellation: Back Up Before “Request Cancellation”

The short answer

BigScoots Essential 75 cancellation has two deadlines that should not be confused: the **billing-renewal notice** and the **destructive service-cancellation action**. Essential 75 is the one-site Managed WordPress offer in this guide, with daily backups retained for 30 days while the service is active.

Seven-day notice protects the renewal decision

BigScoots' Terms say clients should provide written termination notice at least **7 days before the end of the current billing term**. PayPal customers must also cancel the PayPal subscription themselves. Missing that billing deadline can create another recurring charge even if you planned to leave.

“Request Cancellation” is destructive

The WPO guide warns that cancellation causes **immediate loss of service data, including websites**, and tells customers to download a local backup first. The portal path is Services > WordPress Optimized Servers > Billing > Request Cancellation.

That means advance notice to stop renewal and the final destructive request are not the same action. Give notice early, but do not destroy the service until the destination and independent restore have been verified.

Backups and migration must finish before shutdown

Essential 75 lists daily backups with 30-day retention during active service. BigScoots' Terms also say data from terminated or canceled services may be instantly deleted and need not be returned. Download an independent copy outside BigScoots and restore-test it before cancellation.

Use managed migration, staging and monitoring to verify the destination, database, media, SSL, cron, integrations and DNS/mail dependencies before the old WPO service ends. BigScoots' Shared cancellation guide repeats the same backup-first principle, showing that the cancellation form itself is not a backup tool.

Refund scope covers the eligible base service

BigScoots gives first-time eligible Shared/Managed WordPress customers a 45-day base-service money-back guarantee, while domains, software licenses and other excluded charges remain outside it. Do not treat the whole account balance as automatically refundable.

Other providers use different mechanics

Cloudways, HostPapa, Verpex, HostArmada and ChemiCloud use different billing stops, refund windows and data-retention rules. None of those policies changes BigScoots' seven-day renewal-notice requirement or its immediate-data-loss warning.

Exit checklist

Before leaving Essential 75: record the next billing date; give written notice at least seven days early; cancel a PayPal subscription if applicable; download and restore-test an independent backup; complete migration and DNS/mail cutover; keep written refund/termination confirmation; then submit Request Cancellation only when losing the old service data is acceptable.
