Decision first

WPX Business currently lists up to five websites and 20GB of storage. It also includes webmail and an unlimited number of mailboxes. Those statements do not create separate storage pools: WPX says every mailbox consumes the same hosting-plan disk used by WordPress files, databases and personal Backup Manager backups. “Unlimited mailboxes” therefore means unlimited mailbox count, not unlimited gigabytes.

Buy Business when five site slots and one shared 20GB budget fit after you reserve space for both sites and mail. Do not buy it on the assumption that adding mailboxes adds storage. A buyer with large media libraries, long mailbox retention or frequent personal backups should measure current usage and leave growth headroom before committing. The exact checkout and control panel remain authoritative because quotas, promotions and usage can change.

What the 20GB budget actually contains

WPX’s usage guide includes WordPress files, all WPX mailbox content and personal backups created in Backup Manager. Database usage is also part of total disk, although WPX says it is checked separately and may not appear in the same disk-space bar. That last detail matters: a dashboard bar can look comfortable while database usage still reduces the true remaining capacity.

The plan page currently shows Business with 20GB storage and up to five sites. The downgrade guide uses the same boundary: a move to Business requires no more than five sites and no more than 20GB of disk usage. Mail growth can therefore affect both day-to-day headroom and a later downgrade decision.

A practical budget has four rows:

1. WordPress files, uploads, caches and logs. 2. Databases, checked separately in the Database menu. 3. Mailbox content for every domain on the plan. 4. Personal backups created through Backup Manager.

Automatic-backup availability is not permission to treat hosted mail as your only archive. WPX’s terms say the service is provided as-is and disclaims responsibility for deletion, non-delivery or failure to store communications. Keep independent exports or another retention method for mail that the business cannot lose.

Mailbox quota is a ceiling, not extra space

Two current WPX help pages say a new mailbox defaults to 500MB. The quota guide allows a custom MB or GB value, or “Unlimited.” On that page, Unlimited means the mailbox may use the hosting plan’s available disk; it does not create capacity beyond the plan.

That distinction prevents two common mistakes. First, raising one mailbox from 500MB to 5GB only raises its ceiling; it does not add 4.5GB to Business. Second, setting several mailboxes to Unlimited does not reserve separate 20GB pools for each one. They still compete with the sites, databases and backups sharing the account.

Defaults can change, and existing accounts may not match a newly documented default. Before importing mail, open the WPX control panel and record each mailbox’s current quota and usage. The earlier stored research snapshot showed 50MB on the quota page; the fresh live page now shows 500MB. This guide uses the current 500MB value but treats the live panel as the final account-specific source.

A worked capacity example

Consider a hypothetical Business account, not a measured WPX customer:

- WordPress files, databases and personal backups: 13GB. - All mailbox content: 5GB. - Remaining plan headroom: 2GB.

The arithmetic is 20 − 13 − 5 = 2GB. With only 2GB left, a media upload, database growth, a temporary backup or retained attachments can consume the buffer quickly. The correct response is not automatically to delete mail. First decide what must remain online, what can be archived independently, and whether the plan should be upgraded before a migration.

Repeat the calculation with your own figures. Use the Usage screen for files and mail, the Database menu for databases, each mailbox setting for its cap, and a written inventory for backups and planned imports.

Competitor pages reveal different architectures

Do not transfer another provider’s storage model to WPX. SiteGround’s current shared and Ecommerce rules cap all email accounts together at 10GB of the plan’s total space and state that new incoming mail is rejected when that email-space limit is reached. Namecheap’s cPanel guide explains that “Unlimited” can mean available cPanel account disk and separately cites a 10GB aggregate email limit for its shared-hosting context.

Hostinger’s current paid Business Email plans instead publish per-mailbox storage tiers such as 5GB, 20GB and 50GB. Its webmail guide displays escalating warnings as a mailbox approaches 100%. Generic cPanel documentation also describes custom and unlimited quotas, but provider configuration can change the maximum and over-quota behavior.

These pages are comparison context, not WPX terms. The purchasing lesson is that “unlimited mailbox” is an incomplete phrase until you know whether storage is shared with hosting, allocated per mailbox, or sold as a separate email plan.

Five checks before buying or migrating

1. In the live cart, confirm Business still lists five sites and 20GB, and inspect the payment term. 2. In the current WPX panel, record total usage plus database usage shown separately. 3. Export a mailbox inventory: address, current size, quota, retention need and expected annual growth. 4. Add the size of the mail you intend to import, then leave a deliberate buffer for site and database growth. 5. Decide where independent mail exports or archives will live; do not count the same copy twice.

The current plan page advertises an effective $19.99 per month only with a five-year prepaid total of $1,199.60 and 20 months free. That is not an ordinary month-to-month charge and is not a guaranteed renewal price. Verify the exact term, taxes, promotion and renewal conditions in the live cart. No unconfirmed personal coupon is assumed.

Verdict

WPX Business can suit a small portfolio whose sites, databases, backups and mail comfortably fit inside one measured 20GB budget. Its unlimited mailbox count is useful for organization, while custom quotas let you cap individual addresses. Neither feature increases the total plan disk. Buyers with attachment-heavy mail, long retention or rapidly growing media should price the next plan or a separate mailbox service before migrating.
