TOOLNAVIA / BUYING GUIDE
GoDaddy Economy vs ChemiCloud Starter: 512MB or 2GB RAM?
The short answer
GoDaddy Economy and ChemiCloud Starter are both one-site shared-hosting plans, so the useful comparison is unusually clean. GoDaddy currently shows **US$6.99/month for the first 1-year term**, with 25GB NVMe. ChemiCloud Starter currently displays **US$1.95/month** with 20GB NVMe, but its page also warns that the package can be unavailable in the selected timeframe/location.
The larger technical difference is memory: GoDaddy Economy publishes **1 CPU core and 512MB RAM**, while ChemiCloud Starter publishes **1 CPU core and 2GB RAM**. Both show 250,000 inodes. That does not prove ChemiCloud will be four times faster, but it gives PHP, WordPress and database workloads a materially larger published memory envelope.
At a glance
- Best for
- One-site buyers comparing memory headroom, storage, backup clarity and year-two costs.
- Price model
- GoDaddy US$6.99/mo first 1-year display; ChemiCloud Starter US$1.95/mo public display with availability caveat
- Check first
- ChemiCloud promo may not be orderable for every timeframe/location; GoDaddy Economy backup retention and year-two SSL need live confirmation; no benchmark.
Quick verdict
Choose **ChemiCloud Starter** when 2GB RAM, 10 daily backup points, free SSL and the lower available promotional price matter more than an extra 5GB of storage.
Choose **GoDaddy Economy** when 25GB storage, GoDaddy's cPanel/domain/email bundle and a clearly published one-year US$6.99 promotional term fit your workflow—and 512MB RAM is enough for the site.
Do not treat the US$1.95 ChemiCloud display as guaranteed inventory. The current page itself can say the selected timeframe is unavailable, and its older 2026 pricing guide still shows different first-term figures. Checkout controls.
Price availability is part of the product
GoDaddy Economy's current page shows US$6.99/month for a one-year first term, or **US$83.88 by simple 12-month arithmetic**, against a US$11.99 regular-price display. The same page says the Economy SSL certificate is free for one year, which is a separate renewal question from the hosting price.
ChemiCloud Starter's current page displays US$1.95/month against US$11.95, but the same live page may mark that selected term/location as unavailable. ChemiCloud's February pricing explainer instead lists US$2.49/month for 36 months and US$4.49/month for 12 months.
This is a genuine first-party conflict, not a number to average. Use the live plan page to identify today's public promotion, then treat the actual cart as the only valid invoice.
512MB versus 2GB matters before traffic does
GoDaddy Economy lists 1 accessible CPU core, 512MB RAM, 20 entry processes and 35 NProcs. Those are shared-account ceilings, not dedicated hardware.
ChemiCloud Starter lists 1 CPU core and 2GB RAM. For a WordPress site with page builders, multiple plugins or heavier admin tasks, extra RAM can reduce how quickly the account reaches a memory ceiling. But RAM alone does not guarantee better TTFB or faster pages; caching, PHP configuration and shared-host conditions still matter.
If your site is mostly static, 512MB may be enough. If you already see memory pressure in staging, the 2GB published limit is the more relevant buying signal than a 5GB storage difference.
Storage and inode math are closer than they look
GoDaddy provides 25GB NVMe and 250,000 inodes on Economy. It also advises leaving roughly 20% of maximum disk space free for system overhead. Applying that guidance leaves about **20GB of practical planned usage** before you approach the warning zone.
ChemiCloud Starter lists 20GB NVMe and the same 250,000-inode figure.
So although GoDaddy's headline storage is 5GB larger, conservative planning makes the usable target surprisingly similar. For WordPress, inode growth from thumbnails, cache files, mail and staging copies can become as important as raw gigabytes.
Backups need retention, not just a “daily” badge
GoDaddy says Web Hosting includes daily file backups that customers can restore manually. The cited help page does not specify the Economy retention window, so this article does not invent one.
ChemiCloud Starter explicitly lists **10 daily backups** and one-click restore capability on the current shared-hosting page.
For a site that changes every day, ChemiCloud gives a clearer public recovery-point count. Whichever host you choose, keep an external copy before major plugin/core updates and test an actual restore rather than assuming a backup badge equals disaster recovery.
SSL is a small line with a real year-two consequence
GoDaddy Economy says “Free SSL Certificate, 1 year.” Deluxe and higher plans on the same page use different SSL wording. That means Economy buyers should explicitly price what happens to SSL after year one instead of assuming the first-year inclusion is permanent.
ChemiCloud Starter lists a free SSL certificate as a plan benefit and frames hosting promotions as initial-term discounts that renew at the then-current standard rate.
The safest checkout capture for both plans should include hosting renewal, SSL status after the first year, domain renewal and any email entitlement.
Independent comparisons are context, not a shortcut
Current independent comparisons show that people actively weigh ChemiCloud against GoDaddy. Their benchmark and rating outputs are useful market context, but they do not override the providers' current 512MB/2GB limits, live price display or availability warning.
Checkout checklist
For **GoDaddy Economy**, confirm the one-year total, regular/renewal hosting amount, 25GB storage, 512MB RAM, 20 entry processes, SSL cost/status after year one, domain/email renewal and daily-backup access.
For **ChemiCloud Starter**, confirm whether the displayed US$1.95 configuration is actually orderable, selected term, total first invoice, renewal rate, 20GB storage, 2GB RAM, 10-day backup retention, domain conditions and taxes.
**Bottom line:** if both are available at the displayed terms, ChemiCloud Starter offers far more published RAM and clearer backup retention for a lower promo headline. GoDaddy Economy offers 5GB more raw storage and a familiar bundle, but its 512MB memory limit and one-year SSL wording deserve explicit checkout scrutiny.
